Who is the invader of Anele with the fire?

Yeah, Linden is developed more and Stave is a foil. But without the main man and his torments I felt a little bored and rushed through the novel to get to the end.Darth Revan wrote:heh, yeah, it is. It's great... but I really did miss Thomas Covenant in this story... I think it needed him quite badly, don't you think so?
many questions remain. I liked the unanswered powers of the dirt and the Esmer thing. A very curious blend.
The ur-viles again show there worth. A brilliant touch for Vain fans.
Yes the ur-viles. Vain has to be the most enigmatic character ever created in a fantasy novel.Darth Revan wrote:Oh, I loved the Ur-Viles!![]()
They rule. And I think they're some of the best good guys now.... it's a shame so many were killed.
I still can't get a handle on them.
Are they emotionless beings or what. But SRD has touched them with this higher purpose. Is another Vain like construct to emerge. I would be happy with a loremaster that said something. But to do that would perhaps destroy the mystique.

a raver, right?
In the very beginning of TWL, a character named "Marid" was possessed by a raver and then killed Nassic, Sunder's daddy.
Wasn't Marid's body very hot to the touch?
To me, I thought that the scalding body meant raver-possession.

Surprise - I didn't think so. I thought Linden's character was developed admirably and I thoroughly enjoyed her, just as much as I did in the 2nd chrons. She was terrific then (anyone who thinks she whines, go back to the 1st chrons and listen to TC for a bit), and is even more terrific now. She has mastered the wild magic to such an extent that she can use it to heal people - THAT is one heck of a revelation.Darth Revan wrote:I think it needed him quite badly, don't you think so?

Yeah, this question was asked in the post,(which right now is right above yours)by brinn18; titled
Anele's***************Spoilers.
I'll say it again. I think its the skurj. Look up my post there for the reason.

"What is your name?"
"That is another long story," the Giant returned and repeated, "What is your need?"
But Atiaran insisted dully, "Your name."
Again a gleam sprang from under the Giant's massive brows. "There is power in names."

I think your logic is fairly sound; however, SRD seems to enjoy screwing with his readers as much as he enjoys screwing with his characters. He puts us through the same emotional nightmares.
That might be too easy of an explanation.
As I've noted before, I've stopped thinking about what he is going to do, because the likelihood that I'll figure it out is about 100 to 1. If that. And even if I (or anyone here) figure(s) it out, it isn't going to be what we thought it would it would be.

Yep!

I completely agree!
She seems to look at a situation from every angle, then wonder how she can screw up everything best. Then she proceeds to said screwing up.

If it is the Skurj, then it's also Kastenessen, remember, Kastenessen rules them now. They answer his call.Satansheart Soulcrusher wrote:I think Linden is great. Hail Linden Avery! Chosen and Sun-Sage!
As for the fiery being, yup I reckon it's a skurj (scourge?) as per my explanation in 'favourite bits...'
I could not disagree with that statement more. She's rational, logical, courageous, and is doing everything she can to save something that she has less at stake in than Covenant does. She is admirable.First Mark Tuvor wrote: She seems to look at a situation from every angle, then wonder how she can screw up everything best. Then she proceeds to said screwing up.
Honestly, for the life of me, I don't understand the Linden bashing, unless it's good old fashioned misogyny at work.

You're kidding? Maybe she whines a lot in the 2nd Chrons, but she eventually overcomes her demons (see my post in another thread for more details on my thoughts on this subject) and transcends her own self-imposed limitations. She is no longer the product of her parents' self despite, she is truly Linden Avery, Chosen and Sun-Sage. She is violated by a Raver yet even after all the horror it instils into her soul, she allows herself to be violated once again by the Sunbane in order that she can use the newly forged Staff of Law to heal the Land. By the end of WGW, she has become more than she was, she has risen above the level of a "whiny baby" and become almost as powerful as Covenant, and less destructive.CovenantJr wrote:I have done so.
