On a side note, the polling station was at a church down the road. Ok, not quite to my liking, but fine. But on the marquis outside was "When voting, remember God was in the burning bush." What the hell is that supposed to mean?

It means you can't vote unless your first name is Moses. I myself don't see why thry think God wants to burn bush, all I know is on my marquis I wrote "Ever since I got my first ballot for playmate of the year, I've been voting for Bush."

Out of curiosity, when voting did anyone else notice some people having problems figuring out the ridiculously easy-to-use wheel system? If they're having those problems here, I shudder to think of what's going on in Florida...

Excerpt from a voting station helper's attempt to help a woman vote:

"Ok, you just have to turn the wheel...no, the wheel. The wheel is over there. Ok. Now turn the...no, turn it. Put your finger on it and turn it...No, you have to turn it to select the candidate. Turn it until the candidate is selected. Yes, you can turn it backwards. Ok, now push the button. That button. The one that says 'select' on it. Yes, the big red one..."

Voting was a breeze for me. I walked into the booth so quickly I tripped on the bar and my finger hit Kerry by mistake!

This is my third presidential election in the state of Texas, and I have never been given the opportunity to vote on individual issues of any kind.....they've never been on the ballot.....and I wish VERY MUCH that I could vote on this one. I agree with you Duchess - I see it as an abominable violation of human rights, I feel very strongly about it, so can someone please explain to me why I wasn't allowed to vote on it?

There is a scene in Moby Dick where Ahab gets all the crew together and initiates a ritual to hunt the White Whale. I knew it was a metaphor for the way governments run wars. It seems all the more appropriate to apply that scene to Bush the way he started the War in Iraq (dont get me wrong, Im glad Saddam is gone) and the War on Terror.

I voted for Bush. As was mentioned earlier, I think Kerry doesn't have the backbone to take and KEEP a stand he believes in. I think that is critical for our commander-in-chief.

I do acknowledge Bush has his problems. I'm most annoyed that he won't admit ANY mistakes in the Iraq war. Should we have removed Saddam - YES. Is the world better without him in it - YES. Did we misjudge how many troops we needed to take care of the peace - YES.

I think we won faster than anyone thought. We didn't have as comprehensive a plan post-war as we should have had. But hind sight is 20-20. The conditions on the ground for probably the past year, I think would have been worsened by sending in 10s of thousands of more troops AFTER the victory. It would have enflamed the passions against the US even more - crys of occupation, occupation !! I don't understand why Bush can't admit that in hindsight he would have done somethings differently - but that given the best information we had and the situation on the ground we've reacted prudently. No one has a crystal ball.

Perhaps such admissions are easier after (or well before) the US politcal season.

I normally vote independant, but I hate the current administration enough to vote a party line. I knew the war in Iraq was a self-serving lie the first time they mentioned it. I cannot abide that level of corruption. Was Saddam evil? Yes. Was he a threat? No. He was a castrated dictator with little influence in the region and no ties to terrorists. The War on Terror is justified. The War in Iraq is one of the worst failures in American history.

Yeah, this whole election has pissed me off so much. I can't stand listening to either party. They're nothing but a bunch of egotistical maniacs who are getting paid too much money by special interest groups. They don't care about the American public anymore, they are just doing everything they can to "win". It's just sick. Bah.-jay
