Anele, son of Sunder and Hollian. Esmer, son of Cail and rage. Jeremiah, son of Linden. And Roger, son of Covenant.

I don't think this is coincidental at all. I think the fact that these people are heirs will prove important in some way down the line.....I just have no idea how.

But consider:

Anele - Anneal: To subject (glass or metal) to a process of heating and slow cooling in order to toughen and reduce brittleness. 2. To strengthen or harden. INTRANSITIVE VERB: To become strengthened or hardened: from Old English onlan, to set fire to. :?

Esmer- (Esme): Anglo-saxon - "Kind defender": Latin - "Esteemed": Old French - "Loved":(Esmerelda): Emerald 8O

Jeremiah - Hebrew: "God will uplift" or "Exalted of the Lord" Known as the Prophet of Doom: Jeremiah prophesied God's new COVENANT. Suspected author of Lamentations. biblia.com/jesusbible/jeremiah7.htm

Roger -German: Spear of Fame

Anyway, not much to go on, but I found the definitions of Jeremiah and anneal particularly interesting. ;)

Any thoughts?

Of course, SRD is linking the present with the past, and also the future.
Time is a major issue in Runes.

But throughout the trilogies, lineage has been important:

Prothall, son of Dwillian
Mhoram, son of Variol
Triock, son of Thuler
Sunder, son of Nassic
Linden, son of (I don't believe her father's name was ever mentioned????), but his impact on her is profound.

But it is relatively clear that in one way or another, they will all play an important role, or they would not have been introduced to us the way they were.

Excerpt from Animal Songs Never Written
"Hey, dad," croaked the vulture, "what are you eating?"
"Carrion, my wayward son."
"Will there be pieces when you are done?"
