Will Covenant earn the sobriquet "Vilesilencer"?

Post by Thaale »

He has already had Giantfriend and Earthfriend added to his other titles.

He has at least flirted with becoming another Landwaster, and we may see more along those lines throughout this series. His daughter came even closer to being a second Kevin, and his son is a threat as well.

Now that we have Viles and Covenant together, is Covenant going to continue to recreate all the old Lords within himself?

That's an interesting point about Covenant receiving some titles of the Old Lords.
But he has surpassed the Old Lords, and earned new titles because of the white gold, and his accomplishments.

However, "Vilesilencer" would not be an appropriate title. The Horde that came through the Fall and that is now approaching Revelstone is a Demondim horde, spawn of the Viles. They are not actually Viles.

Maybe "Demondim-shellacker" would be better.

Did Loric ever face the Viles?
I know he met the Demondin and the first wave of Ur-Viles but It says nothing about him fighting the Viles.
I always assumed the name Vile-silencer reffered to meeting a certain kind of evil, and fighing it.

I imagine if we're seeing actual demondim, we'll probably see Viles themselves at some point as well.

Anyone else think that Esmer brought the Demondim foward in time right before the RitofDes?

I think the possibility of Viles appearing is high. I can't help noting the way the Viles' description resembles an evil twist on the Elohim; and the Elohim and the shadow on their hearts will be very important in the Last Chronicles.

i thought when reading WGW that Covenant would gain all the titles of teh Old Lords with Landwaster last and that he would desicrate or do something which would harm the land ...........but i was wrong :D
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

I am curious to see if we will return to Thomas Covenants' POV. We have been in Lindens' POV since the beginning of The One Tree.

I think we will have shared POV's soon. If TC is truly back in the flesh, certainly will will see things from his perspective too, as well as Roger's, Joan's and Jeremiah's.
I am curious to see if SRD brings us into Joan's mind. What a ride that would be!

The converse of ur-bane's reasoning also IMO bears mention: if the POV remains with Linden, never shifting to Covenant, we might presume something is not quite completely kosher here.

I wonder: will the krill reappear and be used? Perfect setup at the end of ROTE: Covenant and Linden together in Revelstone, with Demondim menacing them outside. If Sunder had occasion to return the krill to Revelstone, it might be there too, perhaps even in the same hidden broom-closet Vain had discovered and despoiled for the heels of the Staff of Law.

*** edit *** nope, wait, I just rechecked WGW & was reminded the krill was left stuck in the stump of Caer-Caveral when Sunder stabbed him.

I'm guessing the krill might appear fairly early in Fatal Revenant.

*** nope, maybe not, if they end up having to go to Andelain to fetch it from the stump where Sunder left it. But I still think the situation is ripe for it to come up as at least a topic of discussion if not to actually appear.

[mod edit - potential Fatal Revenant spoiler]
Spoiler
Could TC's reapearance be possible without the breaking of the laws of life and death?Interesting to me is that Linden is in possession of THE FREAKING STAFF OF LAW!What a quandry this might cause! Will she be able to use it to its full effectiveness/i.e. a full restoration of the natural laws, without sending TC back to the realm of the dead?
