I have heard every song from that album (thanks in most part to Kazaa Lite); I just don't own it yet. Concerning Naked: the Spector version is a bit heavy-handed (to say the least), but I would still go with it, anyway. I could very easily go into a long splurge as to why Let It Be, in my opinion, doesn't come close to Abbey or White, but this topic is derailed enough as is.

Anyway, to get back on track, I recently acquired two of Hendrix's best albums, Axis: Bold As Love and Electric Ladyland. People always think of Hendrix as a great lead guitarist (or a grossly overrated one), effectively overlooking his other talents as a composer, rhythm guitarist, lyricist, hippie guru, etc.

EDIT: finally bought Frank Zappa's Hot Rats and currently listening to it.

And I disagree.

Don't get me wrong; RUX is a classic. But I think his other two albums are better for understanding his lasting musical importance.

Personally, I think Axis is Hendrix's most carefully crafted work, solid throughout, often breathtaking, and stylistically more expansive than the relentlessly explosive RUX. But that's just me.

Anyway, I've overplayed most of the songs on RUX, so no real interest in buying it. Gotta have something I haven't burnt out on yet.

I am currently listening to Charles Ives's First Symphony...a little while ago it was the Canadian Brass playing Bach's Art of the Fugue.

Then I think I will switch over to my current favorite jazz album, the very funky and fun Maceo Parker's Life on Planet Groove.

I've been listening to Megadeth's newest album, The System Has Failed. It's some really good stuff. Nothing they've put out since Symphony of Destruction has really appealed to me, but this one is really sticking with me. The best track on the album hands down is "The Scorpion." The only song of theirs I've heard on the radio, "Die Dead Enough" is a close second (only heard the song once, and it was a request. y'know, the fact that this established band is getting no exposure is what's wrong with the industry these days. intelligent lyrics and tight musicianship doesn't get you s*** anymore). See also "Something That I'm Not" (...yet. great closing line) and the best 40 second song I've heard in a long time, "I Know Jack".

Listening to Zappa's Hot Rats. Supposedly, it's Zappa for people who don't like Zappa. It's all instrumental (except one song), but who cares when the playing's this great?

Currently listening to Velvet Underground's Loaded. The deluxe edition of Tommy is looking mighty damn tasty; I plan on picking it up ASAP. Will probably get King Crimson's Lizard and Hendrix's posthumous release, First Rays of the New Rising Sun, as well.

Oh yeah LF the Deluxe Editions are excellent, especially with Who albums. I have the Deluxe "Who's Next," it's pretty awesome.
I've been listening to Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush" and the live album "Year of the Horse." Both are superb.

I'd love to have the Deluxe Who's Next, but I've already got the album. Only got 50 bucks, anyway, and more interested in buying the albums I haven't heard yet (Tommy, The Who Sell Out, Who Are You, etc.)

Yes, that's the same reason that I'm not buying the deluxe "Tommy."
"Year of the Horse" has killer versions of When You Dance Danger Bird and Mr. Soul. I definitely reccomend it, Danlo.

A Perfect Circle's new album, eMOTIVe. All covers of old anti-war songs, Lennon's Imagine, Gaye's What's going on, Led Zeplin's When the levee breaks and Joni Mitchell's Fiddle and the drum. Just to name a few.
