I didn't think anyone in my generation had any idea who ELP were. I had assumed you were part of my age group (really too young) but now... I am not sure. I think they need to have a revival. Brain Salad Surgery is an unbeleivable album.

Er, well, I'm 19. Hope that clears up any confusion!

Well, I only bought Tarkus yesterday. I intend on buying Trilogy and Brain Salad Surgery as well, though. ELP can be pretty pretentious/self-indulgent at times, and but not as over the top or overbearing as, say, Yes. Plus, Emerson had far better classical training than any other 60s musician and he made damn sure you knew it.

Not true. Rick Wakeman had much better classical training, and was even more pretentious.

I love the cover of the new Manic Street Preachers album, Lifeblood. At first glance it just looks like a splash of (fake, hopefully) blood, but it's actually a very slender woman half covered in (again, hopefully fake) blood.

For some reason this album has recieved exceptionally harsh reviews, even for the manics. I think it's great and sounds reminiscent of Everything Must Go, full of soaring anthemic numbers and great hooks. I suppose the critics don't like bands who able to strike back...

Lennon Legend (I have the two best Lennon solo albums, but this compilation has "Give Peace A Chance", "Cold Turkey", and "Instant Karma", his first three post-Beatles singles. All three tracks are so important it's probably worth buying this even if you have all the other tracks on the original albums.)
