Which one do you like the best, I really don't know mine, but I'll post this anyway.

Yep. It is White Gold Wielder. Why? It is the conclusion of the series and it contains, for me, the best parts.

The assault on Revelstone for instance. With a force consisting of himself and a handful of helpers TC takes Revelstone by force. A feat never done by anyone else, ever.

As much as some of the other books have going for them, LFB will always be my favorite. There's just a certain... freshness to the book. Maybe because it's the first, maybe because I feel like it lays down all the questions and symbolism of everything that follows. It could be because I've read it more often and more deeply than any of the others.

I guess it's kind of like looking back on that first girlfriend (or boyfriend, whatever your fancy may be). Sure, there have probably been ones that are better down the road, but that one always has a special place in your heart.

Luckily, LFB never dumped me.

I feel the same way as you do, Syl. LFB gets my vote. It was the beginning of my love affair with The Land.

But The Illearth War and The One Tree come in close behind it for second and third.

I have to pick The Wounded Land.
Depressing,yes. Linden whining,yes. But I have never picked up another book and been so blown away by the story I was reading.4000 yrs. And everything is different from what you knew. The following things gave (and give) me chills in TWL
Brinn saying from his jail cell:

"Ur-Lord Thomas Covenant,Unbeliever and White Gold wielder,I salute you. You are remembered amoung the Harachai" The implacable rigor of his personality seemed incapable of supplication." I am Brinn. Will you set us free?"

And Vain:

"What the hell--?" Covenant jerked out of bed and hurried into the next room. Rain came slashing in from the balcony, drenching the floor. He braved the deluge, went outside to look for some indication of how Vain had reached him.
Through the downpour he saw a huge tree bough leaning against the end of the balcony. The butt of the limb rested on another balcony thirty or forty feet below; apparently,Vain had climbed several hundred feet up the wall of Revelstone by scaling his bough to the lower abutments,then pulling it up behind him and using it to reach the next parapets,ascending by stages until he reached Covenant's room. How Vain had known the right room Covenant had no idea.

And then the Giants return (a whole ship of them!)
And then the caamora at Seareach, and...oh,man I love this book!

y'know all this talk of how great the books are is making me itch to read them again. I'm reading LOTR for the first time and it's just not the same. I might even prefer the films (

).

Problem is , if I read the chronicles again, I can't read anything else and I've got books piling up, CLive Barker's latest being one of them.

Aah well, so little time, so many good books. Good job I'm off to the beach for a few days soon.....

I loved the Illearth war - I have read it over and over again.
For one thing, it was in the days of Earthpower. And TCs growing understanding of and love for the Land...
And the Bloodguard! The way TC and Bannor interact and Elena makes the bone sculpture thing and oh Everything!

Gilden Fire, no doubt about it. But why can't it be longer? I would like Gilden Fire with Korik's misson from the start to the end. Or even better, The Illearth War with complete Gilden Fire.

The Illearth War. The tragedy of Elena's life and her imaculate strength in spite of it really comes into focus here. There is so much also going on and the book literally goes all over the place with the story. I had trouble following it and I think that's why it intrigued me so much.

Alltho- finding out about the Sunbane in The Wounded Land did blow me out the water as well. That concept took some real genious!
