Definately "Do You Realize" by the Flaming Lips, but "Blackbird" is a close, close second.

"Starless", by King Crimson. That song is basically the course of my life (past, present, and future), encapsulated in 12 minutes of music.

It'd probably drive the people at the funeral home up the wall, though. And I wouldn't be there to see their reaction, anyway. That said, I'll probably just pick something more crowd-friendly, like "In My Life", by The Beatles.

Possession by Sarah McLachlan
Possession
Listen as the wind blows from across the great divide
voices trapped in yearning, memories trapped in time
the night is my companion, and solitude my guide
would I spend forever here and not be satisfied?
and I would be the one
to hold you down
kiss you so hard
I'll take your breath away
and after, I'd wipe away the tears
just close your eyes dear
Through this world I've stumbled
so many times betrayed
trying to find an honest word to find
the truth enslaved
oh you speak to me in riddles
and you speak to me in rhymes
my body aches to breathe your breath
your words keep me alive
And I would be the one
to hold you down
kiss you so hard
I'll take your breath away
and after, I'd wipe away the tears
just close your eyes dear
Into this night I wander
it's morning that I dread
another day of knowing of
the path I fear to tread
oh into the sea of waking dreams
I follow without pride
nothing stands between us here
and I won't be denied
and I would be the one
to hold you down
kiss you so hard
I'll take your breath away
and after, I'd wipe away the tears
just close your eyes...
Love as thou wilt.

You are aware that Sarah wrote this song about a stalker that killed himself, aren't you?

I just thought I would post the Lyrics to Do You Realize, so you can see how extremely appropriate it is.
The Flaming Lips wrote:Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize - we're floating in space -
Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry
Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Do You Realize - Oh - Oh - Oh
Do You Realize - that everyone you know
Someday will die -

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize

Wherever I May Roam - Metallica
Wherever I May Roam

...and the road becomes my bride
I have stripped of all but pride
So in her I do confide
And she keeps me satisfied
Gives me all I need

...and with dust in throat I crave
Only knowledge will I save
To the game you stay a slave
Rover wanderer
Nomad vagabond
Call me what you will

But I'll take my time anywhere
Free to speak my mind anywhere
And I'll redefine anywhere
Anywhere I may roam
Where I lay my head is home

...and the earth becomes my throne
I adapt to the unknown
Under wandering stars I've grown
By myself but not alone
I ask no one

...and my ties are severed clean
The less I have the more I gain
Off the beaten path I reign
Rover wanderer
Nomad vagabond
Call me what you will

But I'll take my time anywhere
I'm free to speak my mind anywhere
And I'll never mind anywhere
Anywhere I may roam
Where I lay my head is home

But i'll take my time anywhere
Free to speak my mind
And I'll take my find anywhere
Anywhere I may roam
Where I lay my head is home

Carved upon my stone
My body lie, but still I roam
Wherever I may roam
"The universe does not give first warnings. Or second chances."

I always thought the organ solo from Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida would be cool. (It has a funeral-like sound.)

I know that my brothers and some friends would get a kick out of it,
but the other "old-farts" would probably just wonder "What the hell...???"

Did you know that the number one request at a biker funeral is
AC/DC's Highway To Hell?
(According to a top-selling biker magazine.)
Have you hugged your arghule today?

Hmm ... good question:

I'd probably go with "The Road Goes On Forever" by FATES WARNING

"its so cold in the shadow of distant lights
and the chilling wind slows our pace and tests our will
still a voice whispers it will be over soon
and there we find the courage to climb the hill

sometimes I lose sight of where i'm going
fanned by a flame I can't remember
but distant lights still burn bright
and the road goes on forever

year after year with renewed ambition
we scale the walls to find there's nothing there
still idle hands clutch the empty page
with the passion of a desperate prayer

sometimes I lose sight of where i'm going
fanned by a flame I can't remember
but distant lights still burn bright
and the road goes on forever

and here we are again
the doors close behind us
and the road goes on and on and on and on...

sometimes I lose sight of where i'm going
fanned by a flame I can't remember
but distant lights still burn bright
and the road goes on forever
forever..."

You'd need to actually hear the song to get the full effect of the lyrics ...

On second thought, I'd like them to play "Strangers" at my funeral.

Where are you going I don't mind
I've killed my world and I've killed my time
So where do I go what do I see
I see many people coming after me
So where are you going to I don't mind
If I live too long I'm afraid I'll die
So I will follow you wherever you go
If your offered hand is still open to me

Strangers on this road we are on
We are not two we are one

So you've been where I've just come
From the land that brings losers on
So we will share this road we walk
And mind our mouths and beware our talk
'Till peace we find tell you what I'll do
All the things I own I will share with you
And if I feel tomorrow like I feel today
We'll take what we want and give the rest away

Strangers on this road we are on
We are not two we are one

Holy man and holy priest
This love of life makes me weak at my knees
And when we get there make your play
'Cos soon I feel you're gonna carry us away
In a promised lie you made us believe
For many men there is so much grief
And my mind is proud but it aches with rage
And if I live too long I'm afraid I'll die

Strangers on this road we are on
We are not two we are one
Strangers on this road we are on
We are not two we are one
