Oo! Always wanted one of those! :D But hey, the Xbox is great, don't get me wrong. I loved it. I think all consoles are great choices, depending on your tastes.

Well, the X Box is certainly the more capable machine. High end graphical options are now being left out of some PS2 titles. I don't actually like the standard X-Box pad, it just feels wrong. Logitech's wireless version is sweet as though. If I were buying a new console now I'd almost certainly buy an X Box, but I'm not so I'll stick with the PS2. I'm not actually planning to get another console when the next gens come out. The only new games I'll be playing will be on PC (no matter how frustrated I am at not being able to play Halo 2).

The N64 is my favourite ever console; Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Rogue Squadron, Zelda, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Turok. Awesome games, and my favourite ever console pad.

I actually liked the Xbox controller, but maybe that's because I always liked the Dreamcast controller, too! They're so alike!

Of course there is a one best console. The Gamecube. It doesn't break at the drop of a hat like the others. I put a lot of value on my expensive technology working, so it's a very simple decision.

I've had two PS2s and an Xbox and not a single problem (maybe I'm in the minority here). Anyway, for this thread, I think we're judging consoles not just by the quality of their hardware but by their software. I mean, if we're judging by what won't break, then Virtual Boy is the best console ever known to man (it went flying down my staircase once and still performed perfectly).

I have played excellent games on each console. If you limit yourself to just one, you're missing out on a lot of great games. With that in mind, I find it difficult to judge the consoles based on an objective examination of their games, so it comes down to reliability. Nintendo consoles are built like bricks, the rest are terribly fragile and prone to random problems.

As to my personal subjective opinion however, I'm convinced that for nearly every great game on the PS2 or XBox, there is a similar game on the Gamecube that is more interesting, clever, and/or fun.

Well, there is a Triforce on your T-shirt! Kidding aside, I'll definitely agree that all systems have great games. I enjoyed Xbox's, PS2's, and--er--haven't had a GameCube (I'll most likely get the Nintendo Revolution when it comes out, though).

Although, of the times I've playtested a GameCube (a ton at my friend's house), it was quite the enjoyable experience! I was huge on Nintendo (so dedicated that I had a Nintendo 64 when every single person on the planet seemed to be playing FFVII and MGS). Of course, I had to get all curious and see what the PlayStation fuss was all about. Bah, curious Foul.

You think I threw that on there because I'm a huge fan of Sierpinski fractals? :D

Throw in another vote for the GameCube :Hail:

Great games, very rugged, works well when travelling in the truck for the kids in the back seat (no AC inverter needed), access to all the GBA games with the GB Player, and total addiction to the Nintendo Wavebird controllers.

Only drawback I've experienced is the lack of online games. I enjoy what is out there, but sure wish Nintendo has pushed online gaming more.

For Christmas we just got the new dance game and two dance mats (GameCube never had a DDR type game before), and have been enjoying it while burning a few calories.

My favourite console is the ps2 because I like the games it has going for it. The Xbox tends to get First Person Shooters, which are crap on consoles anyway, the controls are far easier to use on the PC. The GameCube gets "kiddy" games which I'd love to be able to play, but since it doesn't get the other games I like (grand theft auto, metal gear solid, gran turismo) I have to go with PS2.

The slim PS2 is also the smallest of the consoles and therefore the easiest to transport/store/whatever. And it always took less space than the others if you had a vertical stand.

I also love the controllers, The buttons are all touchable without changing the position of your hands. I've never used a gamecube controller, but the xbox original ones were huge and heavy, the new smaller ones (controller-s or something) look pretty much the same as a ps2 controller but with buttons in weird places.
