he missed by a few hundred, had an off day. seems the conspiracy is a bit cynical. the man won 2.5 million. he had an off day. so it goes.

On tonight's round -- second of a two-night college championship -- there appeared the following (approximate wording) question:
  • Lord Foul was the really bad bad guy in Stephen R. Donaldson's fantasy series "The Chronicles of..." this man
While I usually hang back and let Dam-sel and Dam-et have first try at Jeopardy answers, I could not resist steamrolling this one: Who. Is. Thomas. Covenant. The. Unbeliever.
Turns out none of the contestants had any clue about the answer (what is wrong with today's college students?) and the answer Alex provided when nobody rang in was simply "Thomas Covenant." Boo!

I found out on the show, about 2 weeks ago, that there's an image of John the Hermit on the Vatican flag! The man that called for the 1st Crusade! And they say there's no connection between religion and war, HA! 8O
