And I missed a good chunk of the second to last season of Angel, so I missed Wes and Lilah's relationship. I want to see that bit.
Okay guys, give: What's with Buffy?
Moderators: Cagliostro, sgt.null
Unlike B&B, I have to admit that I was so put off by season 6 of Buffy I never watched season 7.
And I missed a good chunk of the second to last season of Angel, so I missed Wes and Lilah's relationship. I want to see that bit.
I think overall I preferred Angel over Buffy. Buffy I liked through season 3 (faith) but then with glory and everything after, it wasn't as enjoyable or interesting for me. Angel had its ups and downs as wlel, but I liked it more overall I think.
And I missed a good chunk of the second to last season of Angel, so I missed Wes and Lilah's relationship. I want to see that bit.
I loved loved loved Wesley's death. Illyria turning into Fred and lying for him... and Wesley asking to be lied to. Wow. I wish a woman would treat me so well.

*makes up a lame excuse*
Well, I was eating some real crunchy chips and went deaf in one ear, and I'm too busy mourning the loss of my hearing . . . yeah.
Oh, fine. I'll be a team player and think of at least my second favorite episode: "Fool For Love". Sorry, but laziness makes me stop at this point!
Although, I must say you have some excellent picks, taras! You are truly a Buffy connoisseur! The Body must be in your top 10, yes?

5 favorites- unlike taraswizard, I forget the names of some of the episodes, so I will try to describe them.
The musical- loved the big kiss at the end- I was waiting for that for a long time.
The Halloween one where everyone turns into the characters they are dressed up as. I love Xander as soldier guy.
Hush (of course)
The last episode- my absolute favorite. Spike was as incredible as I knew he would be.
The first episode with "the trio", back when they were just stupid and annoying and not truly evil yet. ("What, so you guys have like banded together to be pains in my ass?" "We're your arch-nemisiseses"
Also- the final episode of season 5(?) when Spike gets his soul back
All of the rest of them.
Time to go pull out all of the episodes I have taped. (All of them). I want to start from the beginning and go through it all again now.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and a leaky tire.
I am such a fan of this show that I joined with some friends to create a "virtual spinoff" called WaTchers. Giles and Willow re-form the Watchers' Council, placing the HQ in Cleveland (where, the series said time and again, there is another hellmouth).
We brought in Giles, Willow, Kennedy, Faith, Robin, Vi and Andrew, later joined by Xander and Dawn as well as some original characters...Rowena, one of the few surviving members of the old Council, a young magic student named Jeff, a homeless Slayer named Mia, etc.
You can find it here: thewatcherscouncil.net
I'll admit S7 was not my fave, and increasingly it seemed to me some story-telling cul-de-sacs were being reached. Willow, for example, was in real danger of becoming a deus ex machina. On the other hand, the show continued to delve into really good stories and character development, while rarely losing its power to surprise and enchant.
Some fave episodes: "Hush" "New Moon Rising" "Restless" "Once More With Feeling" "Tabula Rasa"
My fave characters were Tara, Willow and Spike.

Okay, setting aside the holy quartet, (The Body, Restless, Hush, and Once More With Feeling) I'll try to break it down to my five favorite episodes.... in no particular order
Fool For Love - s05ep07 - I just love this one, especially the final scene where Spike shows up with the shotgun.
Family - s05ep 06 - I dunno, I just like this one. I love the part at the end (as I think I've mentioned before) where they finally have Tara's birthday party, and everybody's happy.....we don't get to see that often. And I love the dance....
Spiral - s05ep20 - This one's fun just because it's non-stop action! I love the whole chase scene with the Winnebago and the Knights of Byzantine. The seige in the abandoned gas station is really cool too. And Spike has one of his most heroic (to me) and almost entirely ignored moments here.....where he grabs the sword thrust through the roof, saving Buffy's life and cutting his hands to ribbons.....and then holds it there, despite what must be excruciating agony, till Buffy can get to the roof...
Beneath you - s07ep02 - What can I say? It's all about Spike.....sexy, shirtless, tortured Spike.....
yummmm.....
Graduation Day Part II - s03ep22 - This is just my favorite season finale ever. I love the battle with the mayor, the end of high school....and Angel leaving is so heartbreaking.......but he was never sexier than during that long (and yes, maybe a little moony
) look he shared with Buffy through the smoke, and then when he tuned and walked away.....
And the look on her poor face....
That was harder than I thought.....

Buffy episodes
BandB, those are the "holy" quartet. Hush has so many good things about it, and everyone you hafta listen to Joss's commentary it's the best. GDpart2, is good for all the reasons you list and more; for example, why Willow and Oz get to the ceremony late and what happens to Snyder, becomes a snake treat.
Kym welcome to our little Buffy convo, and Zahir, dude, do not be so quiet, speak up.
I welcomed the new year, by rewatching Older and far away and the Acad. of TV Arts and Sciences Buffy panel (panel done in June 2002).

Fool for Love (5/7)
Flashing back and forth between Spike killing his second Slayer on a NYC subway in 1977, and the present, as he explains the Slayer deathwish to Buffy:
Restless
Lover's Walk 3/8
Crush (5/14)
Flashing back and forth between Spike killing his second Slayer on a NYC subway in 1977, and the present, as he explains the Slayer deathwish to Buffy:
HushEvery day you wake up, it's the same bloody question that haunts you: is today the day I die?
Death is on your heels, baby, and sooner or later it's gonna catch you.
And part of you wants it... not only to stop the fear and uncertainty, but because you're just a little bit in love with it.
Death is your art. You make it with your hands, day after day. That final gasp. That look of peace. Part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. Every Slayer... has a death wish.
Even you.
The only reason you've lasted as long as you have is you've got ties to the world... your mum, your brat kid sister, the Scoobies. They all tie you here but you're just putting off the inevitable. Sooner or later, you're gonna want it. And the second- the second- that happens...
(Spike slaps his hands together, holding them inches from Buffy's face.)
You know I'll be there. I'll slip in... have myself a real good day.
Restless
Lover's Walk 3/8
The Gift"You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love 'til it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other 'til it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. (points at his temple) Love isn't brains, children, it's blood. (clasps his chest) Blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it."
...
SPIKE: Now, that was fun. (smiling) Oh, don't tell me that wasn't fun. (chuckles) Oh, God! It's been so long since I had a decent spot of violence. (stops and considers) Really puts things in perspective.
Angel bends over in pain and weakness, and Buffy moves to gently support him.
SPIKE: (sarcastically) Oh, yeah. You two. Just friends. No danger there.
BUFFY: Could we just do the damn spell now?
SPIKE: Oh, sod the spell. Your friends are at the factory. (smiling) I'm really glad I came here, you know? I've been all wrongheaded about this. Weeping, crawling, blaming everybody else. I want Dru back, I've just gotta be the man I was, (stands proud) the man she loved. I'm gonna do what I shoulda done in the first place: I'll find her, wherever she is, tie her up, torture her until she likes me again. (goes to leave) Love's a funny thing.
And Glory's confused face as she says, "The Slayer's a robot!? Did everybody else know the Slayer was a robot??" is priceless!!!XANDER: Why blood? Why Dawn's blood? I mean, why couldn't it be, like, a lymph ritual?
SPIKE: 'Cause it's always gotta be blood.
XANDER: We're not actually discussing dinner right now.
SPIKE: Blood is life, lackbrain. Why do you think we eat it? It's what keeps you going, makes you warm, makes you hard, makes you other than dead. 'Course it's her blood.
Crush (5/14)
Hmm, Spike seems to be big in my favorites... hehDAWN: I'm not a child. I'm not even human. Not originally.
SPIKE: (sighs) Yeah, well, originally I was. I got over it. Doesn't seem to me it matters very much how you start out.

Alyson Hannigan news
OK, I am hoping BtVS fans are checking here regularly. Alyson Hanigan (Willow Rosenberg) will be guest staring on Veronica Mars during the end of February. There is a real possibility that her character will become recurring by the end of the season.
Furthermore, one can disregard rumors that Alyson will be guest staring on the midseason sitcom staring JL Hewitt (Party of Five) and Ed O'Neill (Married with Childern). That part has now been given to Sara Gilbert (Roseanne).

Alyson on TV
A shallow and cursory explanation follows. VM is new series on UPN, seen locally at 8.00 pm Tuesday. Veronica (Kirsten Bell) is local HS student who helps her father, former local sheriff, with his PI business. And she works on cases on her own.

Veronica Mars very very OT
FYI, the Veronica Mars episode with special guest star Alyson Hannigan will be seen on UPN on Tuesday, February 22. Her character is the daughter of Harry Hamblin (Michael Cusack from LA Law), who in the show is local figure who movie star and show biz big shot. Alyson's character (Trina Echols) is aspiring actress and half sister to character Logan, who is the title character's HS nemesis, and her best friend's exBF. BTW, Trina's stepmom, Logan's mom, has recently disappeared a presumed suicide.
Heard more recently, the character of Trina Echols will reappear in the series before its premier season's finale again in April

I'm at the moment rewatching Buffy. Seen season one and two so far, saw Becoming Part II about an hour ago and I'm still all wet-eyed. I cried like a baby. Yup, I'm silly.
And well, because Angel's my big favorite character, my favorite episodes so far are
2x13 - Surprise
2x14 - Innocence
and surprise surprise, 2x22 - Becoming pt 2

You're not silly, or at least if you are then so am I.....
I cry like a baby every time I watch that one. And many other places besides. I'm coming up very close on The Body again. I had to turn the dvd player off last night because the next episode was I Was Made To Love You, and it's the final scene in that one where Buffy walks in and finds.....
And so I had to turn it off. I have to steel myself for that one.
Maybe tonight I can handle it....
