Just bought the wife Rod Stewart's Stardust: The Great American Songbook Vol. 3 and Kitaro's Sacred Journey to put under the tree. Hey don't look at me she has the other 2 CDs and her mom, sister and her are into that stuff. Yes Kitaro is New Agey but they're one of the cooler New Agey Bands and it's spacey mellow stuff that's unobtrusive while you're on the comp or reading.

I asked for anything by The Deftones, 4 Way Street by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and either Birds of Fire or The Inner Mounting Flame by The Mahavishnu Orchestra. I'll let you know what I got... 8)

I peeked and know that I will be getting the new Queen Latifah CD -- the one where she is singing jazz standards. :) I know from watching Chicago that she is a gifted jazz singer, and I can't wait to get to hear the CD. :)

I usually end up buying my own music ... my family always complains that my CD and DVD collection is so huge that they never know what music to buy me, so they don't bother and get me other stuff instead.

Fair enough.

Have you seen Living Out Loud? The movie itself was kind of slow but her singing blew me away. She is a great talent and needs to quit wasting herself on hip-hop.

I got 4 Way Street double live CD and it sounds SO sweet digitally remastered! We were seriously rocking out to Neil and Stephen's long intense Southern Man jam last night! :D--I also got Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra's latest, La Semana which is very beautiful: lots of Samba and Flamenco--much very cool hand clapping! Ole! 8)

I might buy some music, but I might try and make the cash stretch to an Xbox and Fable instead

I got two I didn't expect. The new Duran Duran, and the new Killers. Surprisingly enough, they're very similar albums.

Yep, I got a ton this year. My uncle burned for me "What's the Story Morning Glory" by Oasis, "By the Way" by RHCP, "The Division Bell" by Pink Floyd, "Hello Nasty" by the Beastie Boys, and 4 Pearl Jam concerts. I also got PJ's greatest hits, the Beatles' White Album, "All Things Must Pass" by George Harrison, "The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking" by Roger Waters, "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" by Pavement and "London Calling" by the Clash. And oh yeah. The Nirvana boxed set.

My Beloved gave me a Pink Floyd bootleg (which I already had but one can never get enough of Floyd;-) ), and lately we are quite into Simply Red, we got a DVD and a CD for ourselves, we play it a lot.
And also a DVD of the Crosroads Guitar Festival, featuring Clapton, BB King, Buddy Guy, Santana, McLaughlin etc... Mighty stuff!

I got the Braveheart and Gladiator soundtracks... I think. I might have got more (I went on a soundtrack buying hall for the band trip to Florida right before that), but I can't keep them all straight.

time to revive this thread, yes? what music ARE you getting for Christmas?

it's tradition at our house that we give each other a couple of cd's in our stockings!

i'm hoping for The White Album this year as i lost my cd of it a couple of years ago and have never replaced it...and maybe Electric Ladyland.

i'm getting Trey Gunn and Robert Fripp for Ger's stocking.
