
In this post I would like to talk about the ramifications of the Ur-Vile attack on the Wraiths in Andelain. Certainly, the profound impact on Thomas Covenants character can be seen through the first three books but what about the impact on the Ur-Viles? My contention is that Lord Foul never sent the Ur-Viles after the wraiths because he could not afford the impact that this event would have on the weird of the Ur-Viles. Much like the culture of a conquered people still remains and modifies the culture of the conquering group, here we see the Ur-Viles fundamentally changed from the first Chronicles to the second Chronicles.
This is not the only tragic event that has tremendous impact on the Second Chronicles. The Seareach Giants, effectively, send a message over three thousand five hundred years to the Search giants concerning Covenant. With the caamora provided to the Giants, Covenant deservedly earns the name Giantfriend and is able to convince the Search to join his quest for The One Tree.

Perhaps the rending of the Raver in the second chronicles will have impact of a deleterious nature in the Final Chronicles? Ah, the joy of new stories!
