What Song do you want them to play at your funeral?

Who's listening to what, what's going on in the music industry....

I'm not ready to deal with my funeral yet, but probably Symphony On. 9 in E Minor, Opus 95, "From The New World": Second Movement by Antonin Dvorak. It's the tune that Terry Scott Taylor put the words "Going Home" to back in '90.

Going Home
Words and Music by: Terry Taylor

Going Home Going Home
I am going home
Quiet like some still day
I am going home

Jesus calls me home
Jesus calls me home
Jesus calls me
I will follow
Jesus calls me home

Going Home Going Home
I am going home
Quiet like some still day
Jesus calls me home
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion

I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.

When the service begins, I'll put them in a pensive, contemplative mood.
"Dust In The Wind"
ERIC BENET

Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind

I close my eyes
Only for a moment, then the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind

It's the same old song
We're just a drop of water, in an endless sea
All we do
Just crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind

Life's too short brothers and sisters
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind

Don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever, but the earth and sky
It's there always
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust. . . all we are is dust in the wind
Life's too short brothers and sisters
Dust. . . all we are is dust in the wind

Open your eyes you've acquired quite a bit
Keep your balance don't you slip
It could all end instantly as you will see
Time waits for no one, it just moves on

When will we learn
That all we are is dust in the wind
Time for the healing to begin
All we is are dust in the wind
Time for the healing to begin
All we are is dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind

And I'll send them out on a jubiliant note--realizing that the dust part of me is gone, but the other part is FREE.

"I'll Fly Away"

Some glad morning when this life is o'er,
I'll fly away;
To a home on God's celestial shore,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).

[Chorus]
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).

When the shadows of this life have gone,
I'll fly away;
Like a bird from prison bars has flown,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away)

[Chorus]
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).

Just a few more weary days and then,
I'll fly away;
To a land where joy shall never end,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away)

[Chorus]
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).

Time of Your Life- Green Day. I'll be damned if I can remember the real name of it right now, though. It will probably hit me as soon as I click post.

Probably the most surreal thing I ever experienced was hearing "Cheeseburger In Paradise" at my grandfather's funeral. (He was a strange man). But the most moving thing I have ever heard was Blackbird played at a friend's father's funeral. I had never even met the man, but I was moved to tears.

...and the road becomes my bride
I have stripped of all but pride
So in her I do confide
And she keeps me satisfied
Gives me all I need

...and with dust in throat I crave
Only knowledge will I save
To the game you stay a slave
Rover wanderer
Nomad vagabond
Call me what you will

But I'll take my time anywhere
Free to speak my mind anywhere
And I'll redefine anywhere
Anywhere I may roam
Where I lay my head is home

...and the earth becomes my throne
I adapt to the unknown
Under wandering stars I've grown
By myself but not alone
I ask no one

...and my ties are severed clean
The less I have the more I gain
Off the beaten path I reign
Rover wanderer
Nomad vagabond
Call me what you will

But I'll take my time anywhere
I'm free to speak my mind anywhere
And I'll never mind anywhere
Anywhere I may roam
Where I lay my head is home

But i'll take my time anywhere
Free to speak my mind
And I'll take my find anywhere
Anywhere I may roam
Where I lay my head is home

Carved upon my stone
My body lie, but still I roam
Wherever I may roam
This would be one of them, I do really like this song by Metallica.
My other choice would be Weather With You - Crowded House, strange as that choice may be. :)

Cho, you beat me to posting the concept, but I've been planning this one for years -- Tom Petty's Learning to Fly.

Bagpipe laments - "The Flowers of the Field" or "The Minstrel Boy."
Laurie

Do you really want me to answer that?
