You are welcome! However, having snakes for arms and a tiger maw in your belly might be somewhat of a social bummer, you think?

I was wondering what would be the best era to live in the Land.
I'm sure that most people would agree that post-Illearth War would be be the best, when everything was peacefull and safe, and every one knew the truth about Covenant and the Lords.
But I think living in the early years of Berek's reign would be facinating. He was just learing about Earthpower, and the new settlers of the Land would also be learning about the new lores. Just think of how it would fell to find out for the first time, what you can do with stone, or with wood. The first time Someone felt the power of an Ocrest, or felt the life flowing through a Gilden. I think it would be just wonderfull :) [/spoiler]

I'd probably say post-PTP. I'd hate Foul's winter.

I meant after The acctual Illearth War, not just the book. I'd say the Illearth War ended when Samadi was killed and the Illearth Stone destoroyed

Ahhhh, right. Yeah, I think that would truly be the best time...other than the fact that there's no Bloodguard.

Think of the power of being a Raver.

Great benefits too.

Post Illearth War would be the era I would like to live in, for the obvious reasons.

I would go to the Lorestraat to study to become a Lord. Then I would study Kevins Lore and wait for Covenant and travrl with him and try to help him as much as I can. Then I would travel with the Giants.

Since i'm pretty sure that there are not any pharmacies in The Land, the first thing I would do is roll around in some hurtloam so I would not need my blood pressure medicine, then I would eat some treasure berries and try to find a stonedown, stonedowners seem pretty hospitable.

I'd take the Rites of Unfettering and try to look at the Wards from another angle.

I've spent a great deal of time thinking about that very question.

Obviously I'm unprepared, so the absolute first step is to get the Council of Lords to kill my summoner so I can get back home. I ask them to summon me again in 7 years; that will give me a week of Earth-time to hit the library and pick up the reference books that I'll need.

When I get back to the Land, I start a crash research program into iron mining and gunpowder manufacture. Within three years, we should be able to start mass-producing cannons, which will give us some breathing room.

At the same time, I'd be introducing Organized Religion. The people of the Land seem to have this half-heartedly deistic world-view, and that just doesn't give them the level of social cohesion they need to defeat Foul. This isn't a trivial point! At the beginning of "The Illearth War", the people of the Land have had 40 years to prepare for the war, and they've only managed to train 9 Lords. I'd probably use Scientology for the core of their new religion, maybe borrowing bits from the Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses.

In order to become truly civilized, the people of the Land are naturally going to need TV. The hardest part is going to be electricity, because I don't think the Land has fossil fuels. But I'm pretty sure that we can farm Andelainian wraiths and use them as batteries.

Long-term, I'd want to start a nuclear program. There's probably no uranium in the Land, but obviously you can get the same effect by slamming bits of lomillar and orcrest together at sufficiently high velocities. If we keep the reaction stable we can use it to generate electricity, or we can let the reaction go critical and use it as a weapon. Once we've got enough warheads to give us "mutually assured destruction" capabilities, we don't need to worry about Foul anymore.
