"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I'll suffer myself to read it again when the next book comes out, and that one had better be good.

I'm on my second read, and mickwalker is right -- it's better the second time around! :) The first time through, I was so freakin' glad to be back in the Land that I just grinned through the whole book. This time, I'm actually paying attention.... 8O

Has anyone else read it again? What are the opinions?
I just finished my first read about a week ago - but I intend a re-read soon (in say a month or so).

...The first time is like..whats on the surface...plot..(what).The second time is like ...theme detection,,(the Wonder of The Rhiter of the Wurd) and structure and technique appreciation. And the 3rd time..is like..all together now..
...There is almost,,if not outrite for some,,a " paroble" nature to the TCC. That is..linear logic isn't the structure,,but a spherical understanding thru osmosis of experience and thought applied. So,,like the Good Book and most other Eastern literature,,it is understood that appreciation of the message gains depth and breath as one gains age and experience. So, i reccommend a re-reading when inspired for a pit stop check up....MEL
