soundtrack
I know, I know, I'm getting way ahead of things, but it's been bugging me for a few days. So...
Who would you like to do the TC movie soundtrack?
My first choice was Jerry Goldsmith, but *sigh* he passed away a few months ago. David Arnold's Stargate soundtrack would be the one I'd want with me if I were stuck on a desert island with a CD player, a box of batteries and one CD, so I think he's my pick to do the Land justice. David Arnold also did music for Stargate SG-1, Independence Day, and the recent Bond flicks.
Here are some other guys who I think could do it:
John Williams (Star Wars, Harry Potter, Schindler's List, Indiana Jones, and just about every other movie you've ever seen)
Howard Shore (LOTR, Dogma, The Cell, Mrs. Doubtfire, and everything that John Williams didn't compose)
Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Carribean, K-19, Pearl Harbor)
John Ottman (X-Men, The Cable Guy)
Hans Zimmer (The Ring, Blackhawk Down, Pearl Harbor)
Joel Goldsmith (Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, Star Trek: First Contact)

Halfway down the stairs Is the stair where I sit. There isn't any other stair quite like it. I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top; So this is the stair where I always stop.

Hmmm...this is an interesting idea. I can just see the song titles they come up with now:
Comfortably Leprous
Careful With That Ring, Eugene
Another Brick In The Lord's Keep
Shine On You Crazy White Gold

Here's a couple more:
Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sunbane
Several Species of Small Hairless Waynhim Getting Together in Their Weird and Grooving with a Pict
Run Like Hellfire!

Maybe they could call the sound track "The Dark Side of Drool's Bloody Moon"

Seriously,
A composer is the same as the director and actors and the rest of the crew... it depends upon the amount of money you got to spend.
If they were willing to spend LOTR's budget on it then they'd be able to get John Williams and any other of those great ones.
Hmm, $250 million spent how many ways??
