Covenant: they have re-released Donnie Darko, with what is said to be a better ending. the original ending i believe.

Helen was droolalicious, but I'm not sure I'd launch a thousand ships for her. Maybe a dozen or so Bass fishing boats, but that's about it.

I thought it was great, but keep in mind that I completely misunderstood the film. When I read what was really going on in it (shortly after my post above), I was less impressed. I'll watch the Directors Cut sometime and see what it's like. Apparently they put in more stuff on the 'Philosophy of Time Travel' book, and other bits that'd make it easier to understand...

Watched 'Garden State' last night; good, but I thought it could've been better.

I don't think it's even out of theatres yet, but I can't wait for The Life Aquatic to come out on DVD. It was hilarious. Really bad, in one sense, but hilarious. I never appreaciated Bill Murray until I saw this movie.

Saw Cabaret the other day. The music didn't strike me as spectacular, but it was memorable. The plot, and the way it was all put together and mirrored in the Cabaret sequences, though - that was great. The personal themes - shocking at the time the movie was made - seem very relevant in today's "sleep with everyone" society.

They just don't make movies like that anymore. At least the big-name studios don't.

I liked Life Aquatic, too, Alynna, but I don't think it's a multiple rewatch movie for me. I'm going to make do with a tape off the TV when it airs.

I haven't quite weaned myself from playing and replaying all the Harry Potter movies yet. Been doing that since I got my copy of Prisoner of Azkaban.

That was an interesting one. I thought it wouldn't have been so good if the stars weren't such good actors.

I watched Cold Mountain last night for the first time. Rene Zeilweiger was amazing. It's not my type of rewatch movie, too miserable, but I wouldn't have wanted to miss her performance.

Now it's Goldeneye. That's a rewatch movie. I also managed to catch part of Topsy-Turvy last night, scenes of which are undying treasures to me.

A really good movie that made most critics top ten for 2004 lists. I'm not 100% behind the ending of the movie, but I liked it better than the ending of Butterfly effect (FWIW, one could say the ending of BE ruined the movie IMO). Is ESotSM based on a short story or book?

I'm curious Taraswizard, did you see the theatrical version of The Butterfly Effect or the director's cut? I'd agree with your assessment of the theatrical ending, but I rather liked the director's cut.

Just got the new rerelease of Michael Mann's Heat. One of my faves...Great acting, great story, great score, beautifully shot. Doesn't get much better.

My new DVD of "The Sixth Sense," while "Girl With a Pearl Earring" tapes off of HBO.

Last night my weirded-out computer kept me up so late I was able to collect Ralph Fiennes' "Spider" on tape -- at last.

Saw a good "indie" flick the other day called Around the Bend about four generations of men in one family that go on a road trip that ends up in the barrio of Albq!!! Very funny and eccentric-Michael Caine, Christopher Walken, Josh Lucas. Walken steals the show and dances! (I am ALWAYS knocked out when I see him dance!

)

About to watch What the Bleep Do We Know!? I really wanted to see it in the theater. It looks kinda like the great The Mind's Eye--quantum physics and syncronicity and all that...and The Door in the Floor with Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger. (based on John Irving's A Window For a Year)

You know I love DeNiro as much as Mickey Rourke (and Jack and Brando for that matter) -no wonder Angel Heart is one of my fav movies-but I've never seen Raging Bull OR Taxi Driver. I 've seen almost everything else he ever did...
