I thought it was terrible. Good riddance it is gone.

I was surprised when I found out that the fans were trying to raise 30 Million to have the show back for another season. To be honest, that is sad. I mean, instead of raising the money for helping people they want to gather money for a sci-fi series. At least if it fails they plan to donate money to some welfare group, but I guarentee people will want it back.

I find that very offensive. Do you spend all your disposable income on helping people? I doubt it. They have the right to do whatever they damn well please with their money. You think that if they want to bring their favourite sci-fi series back instead of buying new curtains for their bathroom they're sad? What a hypocrite!

I'm sorry to see it go under, but I thought from day one that it was on shaky ground. As soon as the subject came up I knew that the "Temporal Cold War" equated to "Excuse to ignore cannon whenever so desired". B&B didn't help themselves with the arrogance they displayed about this either.

I think the francise needs a rest for a bit, and someone to come back with a new approach...said approach including a degree of respect to the existing body of work.

Well, if they don't want to give the money to charity, they could at least spend it on a better show!

The trouble is that so much of that existing body of work was produced by the schlockmeisters now in charge. I fear the well has been permanently poisoned. In any case, there is now so much good SF on television, including shows much closer to the original idea of Trek, that it really wouldn't be a big loss to retire the Star Trek name.

Better to chloroform the franchise, I say, than to keep it alive in a way that smears mud all over Gene Roddenberry's good name.

Hypocrisy? Don't use hyperbole, Nathan. I never said buying items instead of raising money for a show is good. I said it is sad they can spend so much energy on bringing back a show. Hell, there is more to life than star trek. Further, just because one thinks charities are more important doesn't mean all money needs to spent on charities instead of goods. There is an in-between.

Of course I freely admit to buying material goods in order to have a better lifestyle, and I am fully supportive of charities both from a philosophical and monetary viewpoints (yes, I donate money to charities). However, I have every right in the world to argue that raising money for a sci-fi series is foolish. In my opinion, buying houselhold products is worthwhile, while raising money for a show that is not viewed by many people, or is largely criticised, is a waste of time. The money can be better spent - and as the fans themselves say, if it fails the money will be given to charity. But given the recent Asian disaster, I think 'whining' for the return of a sci-fi show is very offensive.

AS for myself. The Temporal Cold War idea was ludicrous....I couldn't stomach watching a second of the show when they were on about that.

And as someone who fought hard to keep Highlander the Series on the air for an extra season, then regretted the hell out of it, once I saw the schlock and CRAPFEST they gave us for season sux (uh, 6), I say, let it go.

The plots were not good.

I liked the characters. I felt sorry for them, having to "live" those stupid story lines.

I wish they'd start over again and do it right this time.

My greatest sadness lies in the fact that it COULD HAVE BEEN so very good.

And instead, it was terrible.
