What if the White Gold were stolen

Post by Guest »

I haven't seen this topic, so if there is one, please point me in the right direction...

One of my questions from the start has been...what if the white gold ring were stolen from Covenant, and not given freely? It would still be white gold...it would still be the keystone of the arch of time.
Spoiler
Wasn't the venom being fused with the white gold
in essence stealing it? If someone had taken it (and I don't necessarily mean Foul, since he operates under different rules) couldn't someone have snatched it and used it? What if someone stole the ring...couldn't use it, so they gave it to someone else. Then it would be freely given. Wasn't the power of White Gold intrinsic in the actual alloy itself, not in the bearer?
Spoiler
I know the white gold is Thomas Covenant, but this isn't known to everyone in the Land.
Lastly, why didn't Drool summon someone with white gold who would just hand it over for a few dollars.
Spoiler
I know the creator intervened with the summoning and caused it to be T.C.
, but couldn't he have tried again?

Anyway, just thought to ponder...

Well...SRD stated in the GI (somewhere) that anyone who uses TC's whilte Gold ring, does so through Covenant..ie-when Troy tried to use it, and when Elena used it...and of course when Linden used it.

Since white Gold is not natural to the Land, it would take a White Gold Wielder to Wield it...[wether or not said person beleived he was a white Gold Wielder or not (Like Thomas)]

So some fool in the Land who stole the ring, would not be able to use it for their own means..and might do a great deal of damage--think of the damage Drool caused just by using the staff that wasn't his...he would have done a hell-of-a-lot of damage with the ring-but not the damage that Foul wanted..he may have destroyed Foul Himself!!

So why didn't Drool choose some lacky from our world with a white gold nose ring that would trade it ;for some power granted from Foul...
Well the Creator
and Foul ultimately choose Covenant...Foul was looking for a white Gold Wielder..the creator Handed him someone he hoped would do more good than evil (Close call eh?).

Remember when Mhoram summoned TC in Preserves? He was able to see Covenants Aura quite plainly..and not just because of the Ring!! |R

drew, I know it's folly to argue about the GI but I think SRD if off on this one or contradicts much of the One Tree by saying that about who can weild the WG.
Why then the fear of the Elohim of Kemper getting the ring?
The Kemper himself said that if the ring was taken by force it wouldn't be useful to him................
aaaaahhhhhhhhh.....
Never mind.
As I write this I see how what SRD says makes sense.
Freely given WG is still working through TC.
So the Kemper COULD use it just like with Linden.

As I've said before "Damn that theory killing GI!"
