Hey folks,

just came upon this forum while looking for info on the possible "covenant" movie I just heard about

Im sure this has been discussed to death, but I figure I'll go ahead with my opinion.

If this was done right...it would be amazing...I think we'll all agree with that. But The only way I think it could be done properly, would be staying away from a big budget and big budget actors, and putting it into a mini series (like Band of Brothers). Much like BoB and other fine HBO programs (6ft under, Carnival, Deadwood) putting in no name but talented actors would be the best. Jesus...can you imagine some hollywood BS that would have Tom Cruise as Covenant? Sean Connery as Prothall?

Obviously having the BoB screenwriter mentioned actually gave me a little hope..because he did an amazing job taking the book and putting it into movie form.

And of course the screenplay is one of the most important parts. Horrible Hollywood compomises would ruin this. I personally dispise the LOTR movies partially because of the need to "make funnies". I loved Gimli in the books, he was a deep character who was obstensibly made into a one lineing bufoon in the movie. Hell....they should have just had Will Smith in his place for all the good they did his character. And Mary and Pippin...the same.

I dont think I could handle Saltheart being made into the "funny giant". Id hope everyone involved would realize the people watching this movie will have the intelligence and attention span to handle serious content without the need of a funny joke or slapstick "falling down" every 10 minutes.

I also agree with what others have said...that there is way too much internal dialogue, and it would take some amazing and creative writing and direction to properly convey whats being thought by the characters

Anyways, I guess we'll all see as time goes by

I don't really think the Chrons are an ideal choice to adapt into movie form. If done well it could be pretty good, but the chances of it being pulled off so well aren't so high IMO. There are other adaptations that I'm more eager to see than that of Thomas Covenant (Chain of Dogs being the first example to come to mind).

An adaptation of one of the storylines in Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson. Still in early stages - I believe they've just finished the first draft script, or are very close to doing so.
Oh, and if you'd wanted your name changed, I'm sure someone would have donated 2000 White Gold Dollars so you could change it in the Shop, but since you've already reregistered I suppose it doesn't matter now.

Welcome, Moksha-Brow! It's good to have you here! When you decide who you want to be, ;) pm High Lord Jay (aka kevinswatch) or Vain, and they can delete the account you're not using.
Halfway down the stairs Is the stair where I sit. There isn't any other stair quite like it. I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top; So this is the stair where I always stop.
