Sometimes...

Post by Findail The Appointed »

Sometimes I like to read the second trilogy first, then read the first.
It kind of gives a different outlook of the series as a whole. Lots of references back and forth that are more obvious when read in that way... SRD can take a single sentence from the first series and turn it into an entire theme or mindset in the second. Brilliant writing...

Heh, concidering I've only read the whole series once, I can't say I've tried that.

As soon as I finish the Gap series, I WILL read TC again.-jay

I haven't either...I've also only read the series once. I'll re-read it eventually, but I don't know if I'm ready to go through that again... 8O :P

Always

Except for the first time obviously, I always read the 2nd chrons before the 1st. I am constantly re-reading all of the books, so once I 've finished TWGW the loop resets back to LFB. I am in constant awe of SRD ability to make these 2 sets of books so different but at the same time so similar, if that makes any sense. When I think of the 1st Chrons I think of light and power and Lords and the green grass of Andelain, when I think of the 2nd Chrons my thoughts are all dark, about possession and misery (not that there isn't a heap of misery in the first Chrons) If the Chronicles were colours the 1st would be blue and the 2nd would be black.
Never one to miss an opportunity - I prefer the 2nd Chrons (just a little bit) because I find more hope in those 3 books (particularly TWGW) and I love Giants.

I too pretty much am constantly reading and re-reading the chrons.
In fact I just started The Wounded Land again yesterday for the
second time in a month.

A shaft of vermeil as straight as the line between life and death
shot toward the sun. It crackled like a discharge of lightning;
but it was steady and palpable, sustained by blood.

Wen I found out Runes was coming our, I read the 2nd chrons, because I figured it was going to be more based on them, then the first.

But I still had Time, so I then Reread the 1st.

I'll read them again before FR comes out, I haven't decided which order, but I'll deffintaly read Runes LAST.
