I agree. He is an amazing drummer. I think Billy saved him by kicking him out of the band and in effect forcing him into rehab et al. Pumpkins songs with him drumming have just such an extra dynamic.

Corgan described the new album as "guitar driven, but not hard," so think Mayonaise from "Siamese Dream." :)

Siamese Dream is up there on the top 5 list of albums that helped me survive adolesence!!
I had a chance to see them play one of their last gigs ever. In My Home Town!!!-They Played with Our Lady Peace and Full Circle and some others in an outdoor concert-but alas, I had to work :(

99 tracks? Wow.
Yet another I'll have to get.

Hmm. I've been wondering if there are other rarer CDs I should try and find - I only have Gish, Siamese Dream, Pisces Iscariot, Mellon Collie, Adore, Machina, Machina II, and Rotten Apples/Judas O. There seem to be a lot of others - know of any that are particularly good?

There's the Airplane flyes High, I think it's mostly B-Sides and stuff.

They have a song on the 'Singles's soundtrack-one of my fav's.

Murrin,

Aeroplane Flies High is awesome. Get it! :D It's out of print, but with 5 discs of all the A-sides off Mellon Collie plus tons of b-sides and covers, it's one of their best releases. Where did you get Machina II?! I have no idea where to get it. And btw, Rolling Stone reports there are actually 114 tracks: their tracklist is longer.

drew,

"Drown" is a great song, isn't it?

Most people I know hate the feeddback Ending
I alwaysthought it was incredubly creative, and sounded great.

Hey wait a minute!!! That link you provided seems to indicate that the Rarities and B-Sides will only be released digitally and will not be done in CD format. Is that true?!?!?! I don't have an MP3 player!! WTF!!!!

...more than 200 Pumpkins' songs will be made available digitally through online music stores on April 5th, including their six studio albums and dozens of B-sides.

Brinn,

I'm pretty sure that what Murrin just quoted from and the actual rarities collection are two different things. This link seems to indicate that it's an actual album.

Everything I read suggests it's just the song collection becoming available online. 227 songs total, 114 of them not from their albums.

They're available now, discount rates for a short time I believe.

They don't appear to be available to download as an album - you have to buy tracks individually.

I'm not sure. They may just be using it to categorise everything outside the album releases. I'm as confused as you, really.

Guys,

Perhaps it is online-only, as I've checked Amazon.com and there is no Rarities & B-sides collection for Smashing Pumpkins listed there. Surely, if Amazon doesn't have it, then it must not be out there. :?

If anyone gets any info please post it here! I would really like to know.

Murrin,
114 of them not from their albums.

The last 13 songs listed are from the Earphoria live/misc. album that I own; severalof them are from Pisces Iscariot and still others from The Aeroplane Flies High.
