Modship for a Song

Post by [Syl] »

Well, I've mentioned this to other moderators, and other than surprise by Foul, nobody's reacted violently to the idea, so here we go.

As some may or may not have noticed, even since I got back, I haven't been able to spend as much time at the Watch as I would like. Most of the time, I barely get to read through half of the new posts before I log off. That doesn't leave me much time for my modding duties, and what time I have for that, by necessity, usually goes to The Close (though the Wolfe forum desperately needs my help).

Not that I really do that much. That's not really the point, I guess. Especially with Vespers, I'd say being a mod is more about leading by topics and posts rather than administration. I think I've done that about as much as I can here. We need a fresh take on things. I don't want to see the forum stagnate.

So, go ahead and send my your nomination (you only get one) for moderator to djakfrost@gmail.com , subject "Vespers Nomination for [name here]". The winner will be decided by popular vote, persuasiveness of nomination (a reason for the nomination isn't necessary but highly encouraged, especially if you're nominating yourself), and a very limited amount of my own and Foul's discretion. The deadline for nominations will be April 15th, the new moderator announced by May 1st.

Rules subject to change as necessity dictates and possibly without notice. Granting of moderator priveleges can only be done by an administrator. Thread locked for a reason, so don't go running off about who would make a good moderator in Vespers, General Discussion, or other places. Again, only one nomination and email per person. Multiple submissions, including via PM, could cause nomination to be disregarded entirely.

Hate to see you go, man, but I must admit that this is more interesting than simply appointing a mod. Mmm, popular vote.

Ok, the secret ballot thing didn't work. I didn't get a single email. So I'll unlock the thread and you guys can go ahead and discuss it amongst yourselves, see if we can reach a consensus.

Ah, I appreciate it, Duchess, but it's for my benefit as much as anyone else's.

Sorry to hear that, Syl. :( :( :(

I suppose then, that you are looking for someone who comes to this forum quite a bit who is not already a mod? :? Or do you prefer some other criteria in nominations? :?

Yeah, about the only criteria is that they love music and frequent (or at least will frequent) Vespers. Probably better if it's someone who's not a mod already, but that's not really mandatory.

Funny dennis would say that, as I have been thinking about him (him being dennis)...

A lot of people would be great here, like Matrixman or Damelon, but a lot of those people are already mods elsewhere.

dennis is someone who is here a lot, seems to love music, and who is not already a mod...

Sorry, Dennis, never got it. Well, so far Dennis is the only candidate, so I'd say he's the number one contender. What say you, Dennis?

And seriously, if anybody else would like to give it a shot, now's the time to speak up.

My vote goes to dennis. He's more active than me here--at least, as far as the "what are you listening to" and "favorite lyrics" threads go. Further, a great deal of his tastes are far different from mine, which provides a nice balance. If it were my call, I'd have given him modship ages ago.

I think Duchess or MatrixMan would also be good choices.

Dennis would be fine for me.
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion

I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.
