Jar Jar Binks, standing in for Senator Amidala, puts forth the motion that gives Palpatine supreme powers. This means that Jar Jar, the most hated character in the Star Wars canon, is indirectly responsible for the fall of the Old Republic and the near-annihilation of the Jedi order.

ROTFLMAO!
You know, that's the kind of plot development one would have expected from Douglas Adams, not George Lucas.
Only with Adams, these things were supposed to be funny.

Re: Ha ha ha ha ha!!
When faced with criticism of Jar Jar soon after Episode I, Lucas said something like "Jar Jar is very important, and you all see why in the next movie." What a joke.Lord Foul wrote:Not only did he manage to ravage our childhood memories of Star Wars, BUT:

When I saw Episode II (midnight showing, May 2002 in Memphis TN) everytime Jar Jar was on screen the crowd would boo and hiss. You have to figure that the entire theater was full of Star Wars geeks (yours truly excluded of course) and they all still hate him. This time around if Jar Jar has even 1 line in Episode III - I mean, if he just has a cameo, is only on screeen for 1 second - the whole theater will probably barf.

dlb, he is in the book for about a second. We'll see how the audience handles it!
Hey, listen, Jar Jar was manipulated to put forth that motion by Palpatine, just as Amidala was manipulated to agree to it. Not that I'm defending the most idiotic character in the SW universe, I'm just saying...

I don't know why, but that made my laugh so hard when I read it!Lord Mhoram wrote:Jar Jar sucks so much ass.

Spoiler
Lucas has stated that instead of Obi-Wan, it will be Jar Jar that's going to injure Anakin in Episode III. Apparently, Jar Jar commits one of his stupid accidents, and something falls on Anakin, and thus he is forced to wear his "life support" suit. A bitter Anakin turns to the Dark Side, all because of Jar Jar. Genius!

It would be hilarious, though, to see the reaction of fans if Jar Jar accidentally got Mace Windu killed or something. All that buildup for Mace's character to have a cool death and Jar Jar does something stupid. Lucas would be flayed, I think, heh.
