Let us also remember the poppy field-Kryptonite nexus, and General Zod's hidden passion for Margaret Hamilton. 8O

This "new" Superman looks like a wimp. I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I thought Nicolas Cage was gonna be Supes this time around. As for the Superman/Oz controversy, I should have said that the first Superman comic I read was in a theatre in '39, while I was waiting for Oz to start showing. Ahh, those were the days; $0.35 for a movie and a comic.

I wonder what the impact of The Matrix had on making Superman.
I can't help but feel that I'm going to compare Neo doing his "Superman thing" to any Superman movie and find Superman wanting.

Remember when Neo flew so fast to save Lois, I mean Trinity!, that the glass windows in the nearby buildings were shattering as he flew by?

The fights in Matrix III are totally "Supermanish".
Neo and Smith were flying and beating the crap out of each other.
While watching it I was thinking "you know, if Neo's jacket was a red cape and Smith was Bizzaro Superman this would be freaking AWESOME!"

I really wonder what thye are going to do with this movie.
My expectations are very high.

If it were anybody but Singer directing the movie, I'd say we'd see flight/fight scenes topping those in the Matrix movies. But I wonder, given that he "de-comic'ed" the X-Men movies (which I liked immensely, BTW), if we'll see a similar look. The toned-down suit leads me to think that we will...

Can you imagine a Sin City style Superman?
With black and white tones except for his suit?
Awesome!
I expect to see a Batman movie to come out in this style.
The Dark Night Returns! Sin City style!!

(I know, F Miller did both)

From what I've read, Frank seems to be very pleased with "Batman Begins". And the new Batmobile is clearly a type of the cowl to Miller's BatTank in "DKR".

Now maybe we'll get to see a Batman v. Superman flick...

I saw this on a web page under the new Superman pic.
I thought it was pretty funny (although I don't know what "bonk" means)

***************
Hey, Bryan Singer, any chance you could ratchet back the gayness a tad on the new Superman. That would really be great. I realize this is in line with the “classic” look, but that came about when action movies hadn’t really advanced past the ‘bonk’. Superman should look like he’s about to kick ass, not strip at a secretary’s birthday party. I don't really know what he should be wearing instead, but if I were in a burning building and someone showed up in this, even if they flew in carrying a fire truck, it would still take me a minute to know if I was being rescued or seduced. God forbid he had to carry me somewhere dressed like this. I'd be there in his arms, my body completely rigid, straight as a board, trying not to make eye contact and making awkward conversation. “So, umm, you think the Saints might finally draft a corner this year.”

I keep picturing H.I. McDonough in a cape.

I think it refers to the days when a good ol' fashioned bout of fisticuffs was illustrated with words like "BONK!", "POW!", and "KABLAMMO!" The Adam West Batman TV series used this retro comicbook trope to great effect. I can totally see this particularly Superman "bonking" people all over the place.

Of course, in some countries, "bonking" is also a euphemism for sex. This particular use of the word "bonk" also makes sense in the context of your quote. ;)

No. What I want to see is exactly what HLT mentioned....a Superman film that looks like the Matrix fight scenes. Just ask aTOMiC when he gets back on; I did the same thing when I saw the 2nd & 2rd Matrix movies....I kept saying "This would be KILLER if it were a Superman movie". Of course, it was still killer.

Oh come on, I thought Cage's hair was stellar in Con Air. ;)

Cage has always been good in my opinion; still, I hear bad things about the Ghost Rider movie that have nothing to do with him.

i havent really heard anything about it at all, except the premise, and its very similar to the comic...so...who knows...Marvel cant keep this string of good movies going forever(well, there WAS the Hulk, which wasnt HORRIBLE, but not what it should have been) but i think the majority of the marvel flicks will be good...
