I very much like to fish. Back in old WV, I used to fish more or less every weekend during the summer. The Potomac is great for fishing, not so much for eating...Lots of small and large-mouth bass, sunfish, and catfish to catch there

I love to fish! Here in East Tennessee there are hundreds of lakes, rivers or ponds, most loaded with catfish, bass, crappie (yum!) and bluegill.

I love to fish. I go to the store and grab whatever ones I like, throw tham in the basket, and pay for them. Sometimes, when I'm feeling particularly frisky, I'll wear a floppy hat with hooks in it, and drink a beer while "fishing".

He can't stand to put the worms on the hook, so I get to do that part.

I can't stand to touch, clean, or eat the fish, so he has to take care of all of that. (usually we just let them go, though, except if they are trout -- those get pan fried with lemon and butter, and devoured).

When I was just a yitto guy I had a Snoopy fishing pole with a Snoopy bobber. One day I was out fishing with my dad and a fish snapped the line and took my bobber with it! Needless to say, I was devastated.

The next day we went back to the pond. The bobber was floating near the shore with a very tired fish attached! So I got my bobber back and we let the fish go.

,,Fish, and seafood in general also, gives me a cleaner energy lift than say , red meat. Red meat tends to make me sluggish in body. But fresh fish! Some women I have known, made sure they fed me fish when they have me over for diner. Others,,,not. I mean,,what kind of signal is Vegetarian Lasagna? But ,oooh,, no clearer intent than the plate of red snapper.,,or trout marinated over nite in a special italian marinade,,then stuffed with rice juillianed(spl),,and quickly baked in foil on the grill,,satisfaction guaranteed! Beer Batter Crappie make everone happy! and ..oooo..the beer batter catfish steaks...the unique and alluring taste of fresh cat fish with beer. Yet,,my favorite remains,,the simple ,,steamed clam. I don't know my limit on those. Other forces have always intervened before I knew I had enuf.,,Oyster shooters are fun but a sloppy second incomparisoned to the steamed clam and butter. There are alot more, most I have'nt even tried and probably never will. The Arizona desert is not known for the Worlds best seafood..but theres plenty of fish in the lakes. Fish is great stuff!...MEL

I've only been fishing a couple of times...the best time was undoubtedly salmon fishing in Alaska. I went with my uncle, the Consummate Fisherman, my mom, and my cousin. Mom caught 4 beauties, all of them between 3-6 pounds, and my uncle only caught 2. Needless to say, he was very grumpy.

But the best part was when I snagged a dead fish off the bottom of the stream. (It'd already been filetted.) My cousin was fishing off a huge boulder in the middle of the stream. I eased the dead fish off the hook, and threw it back in--but it was so slimy it slipped out of my hand too soon--and headed straight at my cousin! I yelled "Look out!" and she turned and saw this dead fish headed for her head, shrieked, and jumped back. Of course, this meant that she actually jumped off the boulder. The stream wasn't terribly deep--it wouldn't have been a problem, except that she landed on a submerged tree branch and backpedaled, arms waving, for a solid ten seconds, before finally losing her balance and landing on her butt in the middle of a stream made of Alaska glacier runoff. Of course, her hipwaders filled up, and it took all three of us to drag her out.

Needless to say, my uncle hasn't taken me--or my mom--fishing since.

It's Rockfish season here in the Chesapeake Bay, which makes for some great fishing....Take 5 or 6 customers out on a charter (and make the company pay for "customer relations"), add 4 or 5 cases of beer, some hardboiled eggs, a couple of bags of chips, maybe a sandwich or two, and have at it. They hit so quick we've usually got our limit by 8:30 or so (38"-48" fish mind you), so we catch and release 'till the beer's gone. Great fun.

Then there's surf fishing on Asseteague Island. Drive out about 8 miles up the beach (no roads, on the beach), set the poles, turn on the radio, pop a beer and throw a football around 'till the rods start moving. We get a ton of blues and some drum as well. Fish 'till you can't see, sleep 'till the next morning, repeat.

Really didin't care much for fishing until my brother-in-law got a boat.
Now we're out every other weekend.
Sometimes I will bring my pole to work and wet the line during lunch break.
But, as usual, I will catch ziltch.
Once in a while I will hook into a little shark or catfish,
but they always go back into the water.
Once in a blue moon, I will actually catch something worth bringing home to eat.
(snook, flounder, trout, or spanish mackerel)
Caught a nice-sized cobia the other weekend, but it got away.
The wife and I also like to go out crabbing too.

#1 Sorry to start a thread and not get back to it for 3 or 4 days Now that's out of the way-Fishing!I have a sickness for fishing,I could fish every day if I had no responsibilities.There are many places to fish where I live,the major species are catfish(blues,channel,and flatheads)bass(largemouth,and spotted),crappie,and assorted species of bream.I prefer to use bait because I prefer the serenity of sitting or standing there for long,quiet periods of time waiting for a bite to throwing a lure for hours and hours(except for fly fishing which I very much enjoy).I love to fish salt water too!The gulf of Mexico is the nearest body of saltwater I love throwing my line out there never knowing what you might catch.On our trip down to Gulf Shores a couple of weeks ago I caught whiting(gulf kingfish,good eating fish),croakers,a couple of small redfish,numerous gaftop sailcats,some sting rays,and a particularly nasty looking little fellow that a local called a toadfish(I was advised to cut it off as it had poisonous spines).Second to catching fish to me is the satisfaction of cooking my catch and serving it up to my family and friends-just last week I caught a nice stringer of catfish which quickly ceased to swim in the water and took up swimming in hot peanut oil in my kitchen.Although I do not hunt(I don't want to hear from anyone who thinks that fishing is cruel,you are just wasting time trying to talk me out of doing it)as it is too much work and I prefer to only kill animals with lower central nervous systems such as spiders,fire ants,roaches,crabs,fish etc.......Fishing is one of the loves of my life want to go?

If you are going to deep fry fish, peanut oil is the best I found so far to use.
Highly recommend deep frying Grouper, Amber Jack, and Salmon. Hmmmm!

Ain't that the truth! I think fishing is a prerequisite to politics. The tales politicians tell are the direct result of having practiced their fish stories.

I personally love fishing. I mostly catch and release, and occasionally will keep a fish to eat.
The best part is my (soon to be, although she already is in my heart and mind) wife loves fishing too! We can get up before the sunrise, head out and make a day of it. It's great!
We just submitted an offer on a house that is in a lake community. My dream of living on a lake is almost a reality. If the offer is accepted, I will be moving soon, and fishing VERY often.
The best part is the lake does not allow powerboats, so I can take my 12 foot jonboat and enjoy pristine freshwater fishing and know that the fish aren't tainted by outboard discharge.
Wish me luck! We've been searching for almost a year, and we want this house. Our previous offers on other houses were not accepted, as other offers were higher than ours. But we both have a good feeling about this one!

I like to fish too, cant think of any Stories off hand, but for some good ones, chack out a book by Wolfe Avni - Mean mouthed, hook toothed, son of a catfish.

Its a collection of stories and such by a brilliant fisherman, who lives in the Drakensberg Mountains (South Africa). He also breeds trout and has had some interesting occupations in his life, one such, being a photographer and breaking the story on the butchering of Seals for their (whatever it is they use??). Great guy, terribly dry sense of humour.
