Duplicate Accounts

Post by Alynna Lis Eachann »

In the interest of getting a more accurate count of how many actual Watch members we have (and doing a little housecleaning), I'd like anybody who has one or more unused duplicate accounts to let me know so I can delete it.

Post here or send me a PM with the following:

-Duplicate user name
-Email address (if you remember it)
-approximate join date (if you remember it)
-any profile details you may have added that will help me make sure I don't delete an active member by accident

Those of you who actually use your duplicate account don't need to do this. You can keep your sneak-thief identities... I know who you are anyway. ;)

I had one called Samildanach that I created when my main account was playing up. I don't remember any other details though, sorry.

I think banned member accounts might be gone already anyway. Those that are not, I will discuss with Jay and Vain. Likewise those people who have joined but never activated their accounts or never posted. The latter number is staggering. Our actual legitimate member count from the start of the board is probably well below a thousand.

Can't really do any of the automatic purges, though, because they will purge people like mouseglove and SRD. 8O

[edit: Found and deleted yours with no problem, CJ... it's the ones that are all one letter apart that worry me. All the letters start to look the same after a 3 am beer ;) ]

So, answer me this, bum ;) : Are the banned posters' ids gone? I've never really bothered to look, other than at blocked names.

Hehe. Bum? Hey, those pictures of me sleeping in the street in a cardboard box were taken out of context!

Seriously, though. Hm... I don't think the banned accounts were deleted or anything. I think they're still around. There are only, like four of them, though.

I just checked, and yeah, they were never deleted. And there are only five.

Although...that only counts the names that were banned...not the people who were IP banned. I'm sure the people who were IP banned were never deleted as well.

So, I guess, in short, I really don't know anything. Heh.-jay

By the way, what are you doing up so late messing around with the member list, anyway? Heh. Wasting time? Go to sleep, you bum. ;)

LOL
Sorry Alynna. My reply was meant for Lord Mhoram in regards to multiple accounts. Sorry.

[edit: Don't worry, I didn't take offense. Just teasing you. :D -Alynna ]

I have one, and though I don't use it much, I'm keeping it.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

My mother was a Duplicate, and I haven't seen her around here lately!

This is genocide! It begins small, doesn't it? You take their phone numbers, their names. It's just a matter of time before you herd them into the Deletion Camps, you bastards!

The pointless ones get on my nerves. I have this one, the one I used when I couldn't get into this one, and one I used (and use) when I was very self-conscious about the Hall of Gifts. They all had a purpose. The multiple identities that are meant to be funny and/or clever are rarely either of those things. With the exception of Mr Wickham ;)

Keep it up, Foul and I'll delete all of your aliases!

Queeaqueg, I'm assuming you want me to delete that account?

And what wood you know about funny or clever, little man!
