Linkin Park is okay. I like some of their stuff, I think I have their album Hybrid Theory. Yeah, I've heard that Evanescence was Christian in Oklahoma or AZ? I thought they were sell-outs, but I know very little about them so I can't say.

Murrin didn't say anything bad, really, just my opinion that most of what's popular, for lack of a better word, sucks.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Well, I'm listening to the radio. They're playing Disturbed. Dunno what song though. :)

No, Murrin didn't equate quality with commercial success. He only pointed out that they go together in this particular case. Me and Syl just needed to bust on him for few minutes. :D

Tonight i'm listening to 77%, by The Herd, who are an Australian rap outfit. I don't ususally like rap, but this song is just so on the mark, i couldn't help it! Bit rude, though... :oops:
Stone and Sea are deep in life,
two unalterable symbols of the world;
permanence at rest, and permanence in motion;
participants in the Power that remains.

Oh, I see Syl. Yeah I kinda agree with you. Seems like everyone is all about hip hop now. Hip hop sucks.

Currently, I'm listening to Ween, Bagpipes, and some classic rock (zeppelin, stones, the dead).

Well, I can't vouch for the singles charts (I can opnly think of one actual good song that got to number 1 this year and that was Bring Me To Life), but the album charts in the UK do tend to pick up on a lot of the good bands as well as the usual crap - the rubbish outnumbers the good stuff, but at least the good stuff gets the higher chart positions.

Not all chart toppers suck. Look at all the number one songs the Beatles had. :D
I am listening to a classical compilation CD, Great String Classics, while waiting for dinner to get out of the oven. :)

I'm not even sure what all of the pieces are, F&F. it came as part of a 10 disc set of classical greatest hits that I picked up at the warehouse club for $10. Each CD was a theme -- greatest string classics, greatest Mediterranean classics, greatest countryside classics, greatest summertime classics, etc. etc. I've picked up several such sets lately, and have been really listening to a lot of new things (for me anyway.) I will go dig out the box later and try to give you a more specific answer. :)
One of the sets was baroque masters, another of classical masters of many different periods, this was themed CD's, the last one I picked up the other day as American classics with composers like Sousa, Williams, Bernstein, and Gershwin. :)

Downloaded some stuff off the I am Sam soundtrack. It's a pretty good mix of some of the legends of 90's grunge rock.

I listened to some Hoodoo Gurus today (well - one song) but I could swear I've heard the lead singer singing something else and in another band. It'll dawn on me one day :)

Scott Weiland and some ex-Guns'N'Roses have formed a new band. I wanna get some of their stuff, apparently one of their songs appears in Hulk.

The Gurus started up in 1984 and disbanded in 1998. Since then Dave Faulkner has done a little bit of work with The Fleshtones but not much. I don't know what he did before he joined The Gurus though.

I'm listening to The Fab Four tonight, a double CD The Beatles/1967 - 1970 .

AAAAAHHHHH!!!!! That and '62-66 were my intro to the Beatles. Such good collections!! I prefer the blue one though. Their later stuff just blows me away!
