Compiled leather bound editions of the Chronicle?

first off- Great site. hopefully someone here can answer a simple question or direct me in the right direction.

Ok, it's been years since I first read both chronicle series. Thought it's high time to reread this series. Most of my old soft bounds are ruined because of poor storage and age. Thought it would be great to invest in some "leather bounds" this time around to add to some of my other Favorite series I've collected and reread such as Tolkein. To my suprise I've not been able to find a single leather bound or even a simple hard cover COMPILED series edition of either chronicle series.

Does anyone know if the Chronicles were ever compliled into say a two book hard bound compiled editions (with the Gilden Fire included). I would think that Donaldson would be worthy of atleast one special edition in leather bound and india, gilded paper. If such an animal exist I've not been able to find it.

I know of a 1 book collection of the First Chronicles...but thats about it. Remember Donaldson isnt as popular as other writers like C.S Lewis and J.R.R Tolkien, although he should be.....

Actually, in the eighties and early 90s Donalson was the most popular fantasy writer on the International level (as far as worldwide sales went) I believe he is still more popular than C. S. Lewis, however, Tolkien outstripped him in the very early-nighties--and then the movie rumors and then the movie--@ the same time a slew of popular newer fantasy writers popped up: G. R.R. Martin representing the better writing styles and Jordan representing the hype, commercialism and "found in every supermarket, drugstore and Wal-mart" overkill... As far as popularity in gen goes--there are close 2 1000 Tolkien websties compared 2 the 1 and only KW! and it's Sister site The Land...I'm talking about devoted 2 the series fan sites--not bio pages...and KW is the only fully devoted SRD discussion site...I have no knowledge of any leatherbound TCTC books...

I have a copy of the 2nd series in hardbound. I got them in a used bookstore for $15(for all 3). They are in great condition and I highly recommend this version.

While Donaldson may be more popular then Lewis now(Im a big fan of him) in Lewis' hayday, he was probably more popular then Donaldson is now. J.R.R Tolkien is making a comback now because of the movie.

I understand that in the 80s and 90s, Donaldson sold more copies of TCTC than there were copies sold of LOTRs.

In the eighties, perhaps; not in the nineties. LOTR had a big run-up in sales when the movie project was first announced, and by then Del Rey had stopped marketing SRD's work effectively.

Easton Press published a leather bound version of Lord Foul's Bane. It's out of print now, and that's the only book of the series they published. Copies can still be found on E-Bay.
