Being a long time fan of the Batman series thus far and after suffering through Batman 2, 3 and 4 and after surviving Daredevil and after learning what they did to Catwoman I have to say I'm not as anxious to see this film as I thought I'd be. But, I'm a fan. I'll see it. I hope I'm suprised by how good it is. To be fair the the last Superhero film I saw was The Incredibles and frankly it was incredible. Therefore there is hope in my mind.

Harry has proclaimed this movie "the very best beginning to a Superhero franchise I’ve ever seen."
»Harry Declares That BATMAN BEGINS Begins Something Remarkable!

Alsi interesting: "for the very first time… The focus is clearly on BATMAN. Burton was always more interested in the villains… why not? They’re delicious, but Nolan & Goyer… They’re focused upon Bruce Wayne & Batman."

Moriarty says "I’d like to congratulate Warner Bros. and DC for not only making a great BATMAN film, but also for raising the stakes on how adult and affecting a comic book movie can be."
»Moriarty’s Seen BATMAN BEGINS!!

And: "BATMAN BEGINS is obsessed with fear from its opening frames, and it manages something that no other film version of Batman has so far: it’s scary."

I trust the guys at AintItCool - their geeks like me.

Rotten Tomatoes has some more reviews (but gives it a 67%).

· "For Christopher Nolan to turn Batman Begins into such a smart, gritty, brooding, visceral experience is astonishing."
· "This is the best Batman movie ever by far."
· "The most Freudian comic strip movie in history, this psychologistic epic favors dialogue over action, relationships over rousing set pieces, characterization over visuals. "

They showed the trailer before ROTS, and it looked pretty good. :) I would be very willing to see this, but the next movie I will probably see will be Cinderella Man. I'm not big on boxing movies, but my husband is a big Russell Crowe fan, so...

Sounds good. I already wanted to see it, but if that quote is true, it must be seen!

I hope Batman Begins will be good.

I was not a fan of the Burton Batman films. They looked amateurishly shot to me; the direction was pedestrian, and the cinematography merely dull and dim instead of dark and atmospheric.

I preferred Batman Forever, a much better photographed and sexier-looking movie. Well, maybe I like any movie that has Nicole Kidman in it, but Batman Forever's ace in the hole was Jim Carrey as the Riddler -- he was born for the part!

Unfortunately, Joel Schumacher then went completely over the top (and off the deep end) with Batman & Robin. I'm still not sure exactly what he was trying to do with this movie.

So...I hope Mr. Moriarty is right about Batman Begins setting a new standard for an adult kind of comic book movie. The people developing the Watchmen movie, and those shooting the V For Vendetta movie as we speak, should have a keen interest in seeing how well Batman Begins is received.

Batman is boring, he not a real super hero. Heros have powers like Spiderman but he only uses inventions.

On the contrary, that's what makes him so interesting. What's so special about being a super hero if you're one up on the world? If you're just a regular person (albeit with some money), there's a lot more room for character development.

This thread has confused me due to the weird time warp in which posts dissapeared or been deleted. :?

My movie sensibilities jive with Ebert's more often than not, so I tend to trust his reviews. I went to Ebert's website and it says his review won't be posted until the film's day of release. Whatever. Ebert doesn't often give 4-star ratings, so Batman Begins must be quite a remarkable movie!
