Has SRD ever discussed how he developed his writing style?

This guy has a superb grasp of sentence structure, pacing, diction, etc. I was wondering what specific grammar books or whatnot has influenced him.

All I know about it is he doesn't keep a thesaurus handy, but he does have a list of interesting words he's jotted down over the years.
