I am; why the hell wouldn't I? It looks awesome, it's true to the original (yes, there were dinosaurs in the original), and I've been waiting for a quality KK movie since the disappointing '76 film.

Here's a brief recap of King Kongs original movies, and probably even the '70's movies too:

Dang straight. It's going to be something very special.

BTW: from watching this trailer, Adrien Brody is now my pick for playing TC. Call Orloff!

I dunno. Yes, it looked pretty cool...but we've seen CGI dinosaurs. Three times, in fact. And Kong looks...well, small. Mighty Joe Young-sized. (I know - in the 1933 original, he was only supposed to be 25 feet tall or so, but when people think of King Kong, they think of GIANT APE - not Ape Of Unusual Size).

I guess I just can't get that excited for a remake, no matter how good it looks. Still hoping that one day we'll get something new and original.
"That must be the King."
"How do you know?"

The guy with the big nose.

Maybe I'm too quick to judge, based on the absolutely horrible KK movies I've suffered through in the past. My first reaction is why in the hell do they need to re-make this movie again anyway?

Hey. I loved King Kong as a kid but even then I knew I wasn't watching a movie that was very realistic with its special effects. I watched the 1976 release at the theater and my 11 year old self seemed to think that was pretty cool but as I've gotten older I find I'd really like to experience all that the original story promised with all of the modern tools to help tell that story. Peter Jackson appears to agree with me and so I am therefore anxious to see his finished product.

I have a question: Wouldn't it make more sense for King Kong to attack Hong Kong?

I believe you answered yourself there; no KK movie has really hit the mark yet. The original movie was conceptually sound, but the effects were not even close to matching the screenplay. They made Son of Kong because the original WAS a good movie. Unfortunately, Son of Kong was not a good movie. The '70's remake altered the one solid part of King Kong; the story. Taking out the dinosaurs, replacing the film crew with an oil company.....sheesh; in some ways it wasn't Kong at all. Then there was that '80's abortion, my God that one stunk. I look forward to having a quality movie based on the original. As for CGI dinosaurs; well, hell; I've seen CGI everything lately; but a good movie is still a good movie. Spiderman and Batman Begins rate way above Hulk and Daredevil in my book, but the CGI was pretty much equal.....I guess I don't judge a movie on CGI.

I watched the original KK with my daughter Kylie, age 6, and my son Tyler, age 3, not too long ago.
Once Kylie stopped asking me over and over again why the colors where missing she started to like it.
She even got scared sometimes!

Tyler just liked the dinosaurs and Kong.

I thought it was really well done even after all these years.

I love King Kong.
Everyone should.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

That is weird. But there're other shots where he's very kong-sized.

There's something going on ... two apes? Backstory? (Producer to Jack Black: Not another ape! the last one ran loose in New York. JB: this time, I promise, it won't happen...)

What's a perfect candidate for a remake if not a movie that should have been great but wasn't, but had so much potential?

Anyway. One other thing. "Herb, get the camera." -- awesome line!

I didn't realize that movie was going to be done so soon.
