That's true but
do they have to redo the original? If they do I have a feeling that Nolan and Co. will, at least make it more interesting--and having more villians will be more exciting too, believe me I don't object to Two-Face at all--like Arthur he has a great last name! But your right they will have to a bit of a remake to develop Gordon's character--Oldman's too darn good to waste.

I disagree about the Joker. Jack Nicholson seems to be viewed by many a movie fan as the definitive Joker, just as Michelle Pfiiffer is generally the definitive Catwoman. If I were the one making a new Batman trilogy, I'd try to avoid repeating anything from the established franchise. There's absolutely no reason we can't spin ahead a couple of years and have the Joker dealt with "off screen" between films, with the mention of him at the end of Begins just included to establish continuity with the comics (I've been told Begins is very faithful to the plot of the comics) and to indicate that Batman isn't going to just put his feet up now Scarecrow etc have been repelled - and to illustrate Gordon's point about escalation.
Hmm, if this one is Batman Begins, will the next be Batman Continues?

Junior,
I wouldn't - because everything from the established film Batman franchise blows. It needs to be redone. If I were the one making a new Batman trilogy, I'd try to avoid repeating anything from the established franchise
Not gonna happen:There's absolutely no reason we can't spin ahead a couple of years and have the Joker dealt with "off screen" between films, with the mention of him at the end of Begins just included to establish continuity with the comics
Spoiler
the card was clearly a cliff-hanger for the next film, IMO.
True, plus:Scarecrow etc have been repelled - and to illustrate Gordon's point about escalation.
Spoiler
Scarecrow is still free, though I expect the Arkham inmates will kick his ass in the streets of Gotham.

Yeah, I'm sure they're keeping that in reserve for a special moment...

Come in 3 ?... I doubt he'll come in 1...

Alright, I can perhaps see Two-Face being re-done, since the most memorable aspect of that film was Carrey's Riddler. Two-Face isn't as entrenched in viewers' minds as the Nicholson Joker.
I still strongly doubt the Joker's return. I concede that the card was included to tantalise the audience, in addition to the functions I mentioned above, but that's just about getting people into seats when the next one arrives. I just can't see them re-doing the Joker. It'd be a courageous decision, as Sir Humphrey Appleby would say.

danlo,
Junior,
I'm willing to bet that Joker will be in the next movie.
Yep, Dent was the hard-working DA that earns the nickname "Apollo" because he's Gotham's young crusader. While trying to take down the criminal empire of Carmine "The Roman" Falcone (who is done pretty poorly in "Begins," btw) acid is thrown in Dent's face by Sal "The Boss" Maroni, Dent becomes Two-Face, kills The Roman, etc. etc. *is something of a Batman nerd*I agree about Joker Cjr. but I think Two-face deserves to be redone, properly, besides Havery Dent is integral to Gotham City Hall if I remember the comics correctly.

danlo,
Hmmm. I don't remember anything about Dent's predecessor, which might be what the DA shot in "Begins" was supposed to be. I don't think having Holmes really ruins the continuity of the comics much. My guess is that in the next movie, Dent will come in as the new DA, and there might be some romance with him and Holmes - he shares her idealism but doesn't hide behind a mask like Wayne. (Plus, in the comics Dent was supposed to be very handsome.) Dent will try to take on Falcone or his successor, or even Joker. Two-Face is born. Just guesswork though.
Keep in mind also, both in "Batman: Year One" and "The Long Halloween" Dent works very closely with both Gordon and Batman.

I was second as Bannor painfully pointed out long ago! (Watch Reign of Fire he looks great in a beard and fantasy definately suits him--(he can also get terribly gaunt too as he did in The Machinist)--that movie gets hokey when McConnagehy shows up as Sgt. Rock--but the ending is great!)
