55 words

Post by Worm of Despite »

I guess this belongs in the philosophy forum, so here goes.

Scenario: Hundreds of years from now, no memory or knowledge of your existence will remain. But there is an exception: you are allowed to leave 55 words, with two guarantees: 1) these 55 words will be all that will remain of your existence, and 2) these words will be read by future generations.

Note: your statement can be shorter than 55 words, but it can't exceed the limit.

This was just the kind of writing exercise I hated doing in school.

(And yes, I apologize for not getting into the spirit of the thing.)

Yeah, like MM said, this is the kind of writing assignment that I hated doing in school. But it's the kind of question that's fun to mess around with. Hehe. Knowing myself, I'd probably leave some lame joke or try to mess around with the people of future generations. Maybe...

"The gold bars are buried under a tree that isn't a tree, by a lake that isn't a lake. Bring a shovel, explosives, a roll of duck tape, a robot who can translate from Spanish to French, and four bran muffins."

Heh. Or maybe something simple, like...

"Sucks to be you."

But yeah. Personally, I don't think there's anything about my pathetic life that I really would want people to know or remember about me in the future. I guess the best I can do is try to throw out some sort of words of wisdom, but being only 23, I don't think there's any subject in which I am wise enough to merit leaving any words behind. So I think the best I can do is just throw out a quick one liner, in hopes of getting someone to think. Something lame, like,

"Leave no regrets."

We're dead, because we screwed things up. Don't do that.

Ha, nice one! Yeah, I was torn between something poignant or something humorous. I think I'll go with the latter, but still not sure what I'll say. By the way, Matrixman: you got an F on the assignment. Put your head down. ;)

I'd like mine to begin: "During the centuries that I have lived, this is what I've learned..."

My name is Alynna. I had a horse and a couple of cats. This is all that remains of me. Put a little more effort into your life than I did, or be resigned to being remembered in 55 words or less.

I was told to write 55 words to sum up my life. Now, I don't really know how that is supposed to sum up my life but here goes......55 words.

Hundreds of years from now they will still be talking about your Edgetars.

Don't be stupid.

There'd be more, but it would definitely start with those words ;)
