Do you think that Rosslyn chapel are being a bit hippocritical in allowing filming for the Da Vinci Code to be done on site, after the Rosslyn Trust saying that there was no basis in the theory that the Holy Grail had ever lain there?
Or is it just a case of take the money, it's only a book, and we need to do some major restoration soon which will be expensive?
I'm of the opinion that they would be nuts to turn down the opportunity of free advertising when the film comes out (as if the book wasn't enough advertising).

It's like Expedia.com showing they haven't yanked my $ from my card yet for my plane ticket but since I have an intinerary # I still have to pay $100 to change arrangements--you'd think they'd be flexible but no--or the $1.75 this ATM just charged me because ity's not my bank. Money talks...much louder than words.

I'm of the opinion that "Why not? It's just a book." After all, there's plenty of stuff that never really happened at famous locales that has been depicted in movies or books. The White House wasn't really destroyed in the movie "Independence Day", for example.
I imagine they just want to be covered so they don't have a slew of tourists/crackpots/etc. showing up and demanding to see proof of the Grail having been there at some point in time. You know some people are going to take the book/movie at face value, and the movie being released will only generate more publicity for the chapel in regards to the theory.
And as Danlo said: "Money talks." If they use the money for a restoration or other worthy cause, so be it.
