I've read the three books...

Post by Revan »

Thanks Gart. 8)

Well, I've gotta say... these books are amazing. Just before I read them, I was reading Jordan (a mistake) and I felt so bored at the fact that the story never actually went anywheres...

I've gotta say though, GRRM is an amazing writer. One issue I had with Jordan was his complete inability to killing off main characters. I mean there is only one main character that he has in fact killed. And it's obvious she is coming back. The ending to Jordan is going to be completely predictable, we all know that he won't kill off Rand, he can't kill off a major character, so he is predictable.

GRRM is however, the complete oppisite. You just don't know who is going to kill off next. It's impossible. I mean Ned, Robert, Cat, Robb, Renly, loads of them, you just can't guess who is going next. I would actually have thought that Robb would survive until the end. Clearly I was wrong...

I also love the realism to the story, you know? Another flaw in Jordan's work is that the characters don't feel real enough, nor the world... oh, Jordans world is detailed enough, but it lacks a certain something...

Another thing I love about GRRM is the complete unpredictability of the storyline. I'm not even going to try and guess what is going to happen next, because I'd be wrong.

Overall, GRRM is one of the best authors I have ever read, and ASOIAF one of the best stories; I look forward to reading more of the books.

You're welcome! :)

Only a few months to go now for Feast....after the five year wait I think I'm going to be locking myself away for a weekend and disconnecting the phones when it finally rolls in.
...but in the morning, I will be sober

OMGWTFBBQSPOILERS

Seriously, spoilerize that. I've read the books myself and know exactly what you mean about Martin's propensity for killing ANYONE off without warning, but don't blow it for anyone else.... ;)

I remember when we were all waiting for book 3 to come out way back when, that was the little hint george gave us to guesse spoilers... something like

Spoiler
there will be three weddings and two fuenerals. I think that was the right number, yeah

Os,

Are you going to the latest Con where Martin will be present? I've seen a lot of talk about it at Ranland.

Hey Guys :D

Sorry that I missed this whole spoilers thing. I only have internet access sporadically at the moment, and a Social Policy essay has been sucking up all my spare time.

Lord Mhoram has brought the issue to my attention (thanks Mhory :D) and I'll do my best to keep an eye on things from now on.
