How do you feel today?

Well said Edge.
I feel lousy. I'm leaving tomorrow for Florida. My step mother has been put on life support and probably will not make it through the weekend. My father has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. That didn't come as too much of a shock, given the repetative conversations we've had over the last few months. To make matters worse, one of my dog's legs may have to be amputated pending test results due back Friday. And I'm hungover.
Reads like a bad country song, doesn't it? At least my pickup's still running (knocks viciously on wood).

I'm sure it wasn't your intent, but remarks like that always make me feel as if I'm being mocked for being egotistical.
I apologize if I made you feel mocked.
While I was speaking with tongue in cheek a bit, I was sincere in stating that I find the both of you darling from what I see in your posts.
There's no accounting for tastes , I suppose. Generally, if I like someone, I find them adorable. I find Cail and Lord Mhoram and Cheval and Edge and Av and Danlo and Furls and Ducky and Malfi and a lot of others around here adorable as well.
I am just easily pleased, I guess.
I find you very likable, in the limited exposure I have to you.
No mocking intended.
I don't find DANdeLION adorable--too egotistical--

Spoiler
Just kidding. You are totally adorable, Dan.

((((Cail)))) I'm so sorry to hear of the stuff going on with you. *sending love and strength vibes your way.

Oh, no, it wasn't you. I've just never learned to be comfortable with that kind of compliment.ChoChiyo wrote:I apologize if I made you feel mocked.
Thank you! Now you're making my eyes mist over. My room is going to go all swimmy on me, and it's all your fault!ChoChiyo wrote:While I was speaking with tongue in cheek a bit, I was sincere in stating that I find the both of you darling from what I see in your posts.

This is really all very strange. I mean, adorable? Not even my mother ever called me that. Not since I was old enough to understand what she was saying, anyway. I'm deeply touched.

I'm not. Serious. 1. There are better men than me. 2. I'm too emotionally damaged or insecure. I honestly don't think that I am a great catch, as my history is very much a string of disasters. The common pattern is for me to show interest, start emailing, or calling, and then suddenly I get the 'ignoring' tactic where women refuse to answer my calls or respond to emails, and I never hear from the again. By far the most devastating even happened a month ago where I was chasing a lovely French woman. We had so many similarities - same tastes in art, literature and philosophy. We had one date - she drove up to my country town - and then the next day she emails me saying she wont contact me again.Variol Farseer wrote:Loremaster may well be as you describe him.ChoChiyo wrote:Adorable men like Loremaster and Variol Farseer running around available, and women not LEAPING to the opportunity to snatch them up?? I'm not a great catch. I understand that you all have been misled from my watch persona, but the real me is so very diferent.

Bah--You are just a diamond encased in clay. No one's bothered to take the time to pick the clay off and discard it yet.
Someday someone will--and she will be a lucky woman.
Lovely French women--piffle. Dime a dozen. There's someone much more suited to you out there somewhere.
I *know* it.

You can't fool me! I know a treasure when I see one.

Cail, things HAVE to get better but, it does sound like a bad country song. Have you considered sending all of that to Toby Keith? More postiive thoughts your way from Bama.

LM, you'll do fine. You'll find a keeper once you stop looking.
Thank you all. I'm leaving tomorrow, and I don't know when I'll be back. Dad signed the DNR order tonight, so I imagine things will go quickly.

Yeah, Cail's right (did I say that?)
Loremaster, I tried and tried and got many of the same results you speak of until finally I just decided to give it a rest for a while and boom...
A few months later I meet someone; someone I've known for a while but this time neither of us was involved and the opportunity was there. Something actually worked out in my favor...crazy.
I suppose you could call it serendipity. That's a great word by the way.
Cail, I can relate too. Classification may suggest they are less than "true" parents but I've lost two step fathers and it felt just as bad each time.
