Battlecries

Flaring nostrils, and wild eyes
The steeds stand ready as their masters rise
Up on their backs with armor and shield
Preparing to charge to the battlefield
Thousands are watching, they wait for the call
To send them to bloodshed, soon many will fall
The charge is then sounded, earth trembles below
Dust flies through the air, “death to the foe”

Feuding tyrants, they alter men’s minds
To make them see hatred, their deceit is what binds
Armies of pawns led by zealous lords,
Their heroes, their kings; to them their swords
Ancient rivals, a bitter dispute
To be settled in full, malice the root
Closer, closer, the enemy’s in sight
Adrenalin flowing, the thrill of the fight

Battlecries,
Screaming in the night
Shouting and singing,
Causing fear and fright
Battlecries,
For those who heed the call
To the battle
All for one, and one for all

Crashing with force, the armies collide
Men are riding with Death at their side
Women will weep, and children will cry
For soon they will learn that their loved ones did die
There is no escape, and there is no retreat
To die is better than to accept defeat
Warsongs will be sung of this day in glory,
Another heroic song, for yet another story

Yep.

Most of my early stuff is lyrical, because at the time I was in a band. Later on, after I was more on my own, I started writing more in a poetic style than lyrically.

did you record? a woman from my church wants to look at some of my stuff and maybe put it to music.

Never recorded anything professionaly. But I have made some home recordings on my PC with the use of Fruity Loops and Cool Edit Pro software. I laid down the drum track, then put a bass track and 2 guitar tracks over it. And then I came back with the vocals. Kinda neat to hear the finished results, knowing that everything on the recording was done by myself, written, played and (badly) sung by me.

Now the best quality, but I am proud of them just the same.
