Did anyone else have this problem with Runes?

Post by kevinswatch »

Ok, so for a few weeks now (go ahead and laugh. ha ha. heh.), I've been reading the chapter where Linden talks about her "crazy idea" to go back in time through one of those Falls thingys to find the Staff of Law. It's like the second chapter in part two or something.

Anyway, the problem I've been having is that every time I try to read it, I start laughing, and immediately this image comes to mind...

Image
"We've got to go back...........TO THE FUTURE!"

as well as others suchs as...

Image
"1.21 gigawatts!?!?!? Great Scott!"

And then the theme from Back to the Future starts playing in my mind. Which is really making it difficult for me to read the book. And it makes it difficult for me to take Linden seriously at all.

So, do I have a problem?-jay

(Oh, and no spoilers, plz, tnx.)

Spoiler
Sunder: Wait a minute, Doc. Are you telling me you built a time machine... out of Ranyhyn?!?

Dr. Linden Avery: If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious horse-s**t.

:D

.The fact that you took the time to set up those photos is indicative of a serious deep rooted disorder. At a way to impressionable age your pysche was inundated with Reverend Jim Ignatowski. Were your parents big fans of the TV show called " Taxi".? How many Taxi re-runs were you subjected to as a young youth?

I suspect Doc is just the tip of the iceberg. Did Family Ties double as a televisional baby sitter when parents were away? Do you think the Alex character was " okay"? Was Taxi's Louie DePalma a straight up kinda guy to you? And speakin of straight up, just what did Elaine do for you? And Latka, do you believe you can really understand him? Just as I suspected,,and what exactly do you mean by that?........MEL

... I'm forever going to think of Linden as having Doc Brown's hair. Thats just... terrifying.
Bannor: It's okay. I swore the Unbreakable Cow once.

Covenant: Did you turn it into the Unbreakable Steak?

Bannor: That's just Corruption.

Covenant: No, it'd be Corruption if you turned it into the Unbreakable Green Thing In The Fridge.

Excellent film.
One of Pesci's best comic performances. (Leo got old fast in the LW movies.)

Bannor: "you cannot corrupt us."
TC: "I dont want to corrupt you. Just go in the future and tell your kindred be nice to Linden. When I come back from death, I have a few things we need to um....handle."

Sorry, I couldnt resist!

thanks for my friday morning laugh...

The whole back to the future references are fine, as long as Linden doesn't go back, meet her mom as a youth and then have to kiss her...

My parents? They didn't have TV when they were growing up. And electricity was just invented (or something like that). They walked uphill to AND from school. In the snow. Barefoot.

**I** was the big taxi fan! :-) It's hard to watch the Christopher Lloyd shifts from film to film - from Jim to Fester to a Klingon to Doc Brown. I still remember a comedian (Kevin Pollack?) doing an inpersonation of a Klingon using Reverend Jim's voice. (put your mind's voice into Rev Jim mode) "So, Captain. You ... don't ... want to give me ... the ... Genesis ... device ...? Okeydoke."
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.
