I seem to remember Ron Perlman from lots of movies and TV-shows, and the old "Quest for Fire"-moive. Maybe he could be Cable Seadreamer. :)

Johnny Depp also occured to me, but I see him as Hile Troy. If she was a few years younger, I could see Estella Warren as Lena. Or perhaps rachel Leigh Cook (again a little too old). I also considered Ben Browder for TC - he does that "wrestling with inner demons" stuff quite well; not gaunt enough though. My most difficult castings so far have been Mhoram and Elena

The closest I've managed to get to a casting for Elena is Nicole Kidman - when she's on form, she has a knack for that intelligent but seductive thing... ;)

I agree, Covenant Jr. I like Nicole Kidman for Elena. For me, I cannot picture anyone for Foamfollower!

Well, I gotta repeat my choice of Anthony Simcoe (D'Argo from Farscape) for Foamfollower. He's big (something like 6'4" and can play bigger), he's definately got the gentle sense of humor for it, he can pull off the pre-caamora anger/grief, and is no stranger to situations of forced or self-induced suffering. Heck, he even sounds like Foamfollower.

Oh no...I would hate to see them try to film this...UGH! I know LOTR was a lavish filming endeavor, but so much was left out and CHANGED. I wouldn't want to see them do that to Covenant.

Robbie Coltrane. He's also played Valentin Zukofsky in a couple of recent Bond films. He's not even particularly tall, surprisingly.

I think that both Ben Browder and Christian Bale are far too buff to play TC! That said, they could try and unlock the secret of Edward Norton's incredible disappearing muscles (American History X => Fight Club => Keeping the Faith). Johnny Depp is an interesting choice though, and I quite like the sound of Nicole Kidman as Elena (and no, it's not just because we'd get to see her naked).

She's a very fine actress, I'll have you know. She won an oscar despite having to look like Virginia Woolf.

Agreed that Christian Bale is far too muscular for TC but he is a very fine actor. I also have thought that Edward Norton would be fabulous as would Johnny Depp.

I don't want to see a TC film either. I've never read LOTR all the way through, but I still disapproved of the films. I think as films they're good, but I have to keep them separate in my mind from the real Lord of the Rings. So, no, I don't want a TCTC film, but if there were to be one, these would be my preferred castings :)

I have a hard time with books being made into movies anyway. I think it would be very hard to film TCTC, Covenant is too complicated, so much of the books are about his inner struggles and turmoil. That would be very difficult to put on film. Besides, they would probably change things around to make it "marketable"...UGH!! I found myself yelling at the screen while watching LOTR.."that is wrong!! it didn't happen that way!!" and so forth. :x

so, I'll say again...pleaaaaaaase noooooooooooo!!

okay Furl, be at peace....

Anthony Simcoe would be fantastic as a Giant like Foam Follower. Likewise Brian Blessed would be great.

Ben Browder would definitely be able to capture Covenant's personality, but as others pointed out, he's not scrawny enough. Johnny Depp or Edward Norton are definitely closer to TC's body size.

*high fives sindatur for Simcoe (I think I've said this a couple of times)*

Y'see, I don't think Covenant is all that scrawny. I just can't picture a guy who lives on a farm and wears hiking boots to be scrawny. Gaunt, yes. Lean, yes... but with the right makeup and wardrobe, it wouldn't be hard at all for Browder to pull it off. At the end, I'd say Chrichton was Covenant.

(huge fan of Farscape since Premiere, btw)

There were certainly similarities between elements of the two characters towards the end. And I agree about the skinny thing - we don't know about TC's build, we just know he's become gaunt. Although I'm not sure Mr Browder would appreciate the diet he'd have to go on to achieve that authentic leper look...

Well, we do know from the Dust Covers that Covenant is drawn to be very skinny.
