Linden carries the old man with her
I don't mean spiritually.
This is one of those odd notions I need to purge.
We've asked why the old man did not appear in Runes. I think he transfered a part of himself to Linden when she gave him CPR. She carries, literally, a part of the old man with her. It explains why she can do what she does with earth-sight, why she can control the white gold and why she has such an intuitive understanding of the Staff of Law. She is the old man's weapon against Foul. Neither earth-power nor the white gold could destroy him permanently. A power from the Creator's realm is needed. But, I don't understand why her and not Covenant. Perhaps she will be fused with the ring as Vain and Findail were fused and then wielded by Covenant.
I'm done now.

I doubt that. If it's true, then it would be a very stupid thing.
Frankly, the new series is already getting a bit crazy.
I think the old man, the creator, is in the Land itself. The caesures are a breach of Time itself, a hole in the arch of time. I think somehow, the creator is in the land, and will be a critical figure to finally redeem the Land forever.
Maybe in the end, Lord Foul, and the Creator will merge as one, and finally the Land will rid itself of Foul forever, that peace and beauty may endure forever.
I think this will be the ending.

Well SRD has said that it definately will be. The final chronicles was concieved at the same time as the second, and has always been planned as the end of the story, one way or another.
And btw, welcome to the Watch Baracka.

You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.
In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.
He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

This would be WAY too much like the Vorlon hiding in Sheridan!! (anyone remember Balablon 5!?) I don't think SRD would steal quite like that!!Khaliban wrote:I don't mean spiritually.

I have the impression that the door is closed both ways. Foul cannot get out. The Creator cannot get in. Not by a normal method anyway.Baracka wrote:I think the old man, the creator, is in the Land itself. The caesures are a breach of Time itself, a hole in the arch of time. Donaldson has said that is not the ending. Really, really not the ending.Baracka wrote:Maybe in the end, Lord Foul, and the Creator will merge as one, and finally the Land will rid itself of Foul forever, that peace and beauty may endure forever.

If he had this answer at the writing of the Second Chronicles, he didn't steal it. He came up with it first.Creator wrote:This would be WAY too much like the Vorlon hiding in Sheridan!! (anyone remember Balablon 5!?) I don't think SRD would steal quite like that!!

We know that the Creator can't reach through the Arch without breaking it. How could he enter the Land without breaking the Arch?
I have an idea... this may be way out there.
What if the Creator was inside Jeremiah? Joan (or Roger maybe) brought Jeremiah into the Land; he didn't go there of his own free will. What if that was a "loophole" so to speak. Maybe the Creator can't willingly enter the Land, but if he is pulled in by someone from within he can enter without breaking the Arch?
If that happened, I can see him being trapped there just like Foul is.
Maybe these strange actions by Jeremiah in the real world are caused by his being inhabited by the Creator, just like people exhibit strange behaviour when a Raver is in them.
Just something that came to me in a flash - no idea whether it makes sense to anyone else besides me or not

Well, theoretically, then it is impossible to travel back in time if the Arch of Time was whole. That is what the Arch of Time is. Time.
The existence of Casesures give strong evidence that the Arch is not whole. It may not be shattered, destroying the world, but there might be cracks in it.
White Magic can break the Arch of Time. Joan's madness created Caesures which are holes in time. Therefore, it is possible the Creator could directly intervene through these cracks without destroying the Arch of Time.
I still say the Creator is in the Land, and he will play a major role in eradicating Lord Foul, who is the brother/son/dark half of Creator himself.
This is the final Chronicles, and one way or another, the Land will finally be rid itself of Lord Foul, or face utter destruction.

Spoiler
Unfortunately we seem to _know_ what's going to happen to the Land (of course we do not know _how_ and that may be quite interesting); what's intriguing is the question of after...
