All I've got to say is Mmmbop is #8 and Freebird is below it. I can't even begin to describe how many levels of wrong that is. And the fact a Beatles tune is not #1 is like placing a modern-day novelist over Bill Shakespeare.

This demonstrates the genius of A-Ha and the fact that they were clearly a superior band to the Beatles and just never received the critical acclaim that they so deserved!

Yeah....Aha. I think I can only name one song of their's and I loathed it like the plague. Queen gets a pretty good mention there too. Totally surprised that Beatles didn't get a greater representation......and then there's, dare I say, .........

PF wasn't represented enough, unless I didn't do a good enough look, and the SMashing Pumpkins song that was their overall highest was 33, which is good, but there are a lot better. One of the Beatles song should have been first. Also, I noticed that NSYNC was there!

Pink Floyd was robbed! I'm telling you, only timeless music should go up there. Not stuff that suffers from 80s syndrome! 500 years from now, the human race will still be listening to the Beatles like it was Beethoven. And stuff like Mmmbop will be used in hostage situations as psychological torture.

You hit the nail on the head, Duchess. That was exactly my thought, reading this list.

And I do not even agree with some of their choices for top song of the century, though I do like "Nights in White Satin" by The Moody Blues, which I notice is near the top.

I wonder who voted????

I'm not sure if you knew this or not, but around last Christmas the Metropolitan Police used Backstreet Boys CDs to prevent a gunman from sleeping and drive him mad (though not necessarily in that order) during a seige in Hackney, North London. The future's dark, and it's already here.

I was hoping Spinal Tap's Hell Hole would make the final count.

I envision a setting where the government has total control, like in 1984, except the control factor is playing songs amazingly loud. It's a very organized system, too, because instead of New York, the city will be renamed to Mmmbop. So, if you're driving, and you look at the roadmap going to Mmmbop City, you'll know exactly what to expect. If you go to You're Having My Baby, then that town will be blaring out Paul Anka's "You're Having My Baby". I also envision a whole score of cities renamed to "Feelings".
