Sex and the City

Post by duchess of malfi »

After being warned for years not to watch it, as the warners thought it was "too racy", for me to handle, I finally started watching the first season of Sex and the City on dvd this morning.

I LOVE THIS SHOW. :D :D :D

Well, so far anyway. The first half of the first season is great. It's always possible that this might be one of those shows that starts out strong and then shoots itself in the foot later on, though. :| :| :| I certainly hope that it won't be. :-|

The show is telling the story of four single women approaching middle age who live and work in Manhattan. Well, actually, other than the competition with super models for available single men, they could be four women who live and work in any large American city.

They certainly would fit right in with most of my single female friends who have reached a certain age here in Ann Arbor. They date, mate, and then come back into the group for consolation when things do not work out. They then talk about men and come up with new strategies for the war that can be dating.

I am really enjoying it very much because these women are so much like some of my friends. :) 8)

It is pretty racy, but no worse than the talks my friends and I sit down and have. Maybe the show is even a little tamer than real life in that aspect.

Lots of nudity and naughtiness, for those who might be bothered by such images.
Love as thou wilt.

I'm a huge fan of this show, I have the first 3 seasons on DVD and plan to buy the rest eventually. It's definitely one of the best series ever created.

It only gets better, Duchess!

Now, now. Just because none of us have a charming accent like yours, there's no reason to rub it in.

I love this show!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started watching it around the third season and have been hooked ever since!

It now plays on reruns on TBS on Tuesday night. It is cleaned up a little so you might find these episodes more appealing, Duchess, if you find any offense with the HBO shows.

Personally, I find that the TBS shows aren't half as funny as the uncut versions. You just can't get the full effect of Samantha if she isn't filthy mouthed.

Agreed, but for those who may take offense, it could be a nice alternative.

I work with the foulest mouthed person you can imagine, Lady Caam, so I'm pretty used to potty mouths. :)

But I can definately see people who aren't used to that possibly taking offense, and the edited show might well be a better pick for them. :)

It's hilarious. 8) The line that made me roll on the floor last night laughing (graphic adult situation, so use of spoiler -- you have been warned!!!):
Spoiler
One of the girls was dating a guy who was really into receiving oral sex -- everytime they'd neck, he would start pushing her head downwards. Well, she doesn't like doing that particular act, and she finally explained that to him...so he looked at her like a hurt puppy and whined "Can't you just lick my balls???"
I have watched the first season now, and when I get a chance I am going to start on season two. 8)
