Still get something new from rereading the Chronicles?

I'm rereading TCTC for what must be at least the 15th time.

I'm reading more carefully the parts that I previously rushed through in excitement, and find that this enables me to find new facets of the book.

These seem to be in the form of seeing more clearly the characterisation devices used by SD. When I read it now, I see how cleverly he has written Troy's inadequacy into almost every sentence the Warmark utters, the lack of greatness in his mind's processes. He is a great tactician, a good strategist, but lacks the final genius of analysis that would make a great general.

Does anyone else agree that there's always something new in there, even after several readings?

Every time I read it! It is amazing how I always find something new. My most recent discovery was on the discussion board, reading TIW when Elena summons dead Kevin, and Kevin has a bandage on his forehead - TC ALSO has a wound on HIS forehead.

What I also get out of these discussions is seeing different things for other peoples point of view. I get angles of the story that I never considered!

I disagree with you about Hile Troy, but then I have not reread the books for about a year.

Ever time I read it I'm further amazed by the masterful machinations of Foul. But then when you think about it the final result is the ultimate manipulation or setup by the Creator even though he doesn't interfere. Everything that Foul has planned turns against him.
