top rock albums of all time
1-5,what do you rank as the greatest rock albums of all time?I don't mean some recent stuff like limp bizket,or Tool,I mean the ones that have stood the test of time,like AC/DC's Back in Black,Dark Side of the Moon,Deep Purples Machine Head,Zeppelin,Beatles,such as that.

I haven't read it myself, but IIRC, Boston's self-titled first album was the best selling debut album of all time, and Peter Frampton's "Frampton Comes Alive" was the best selling double album.

well according to Rolling Stone (magazine), the tope 10 are:
1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles
2. Pet Sounds, The Beach Boys

Interesting choises, but having looked at the whole list of their top 500 of al time, they have some pretty dubious albums high on the list (or even ON the list) and are missing some very influential and great albumns (such as King Crimson's "In the Court of the Crimson King"). In fact they seem to have almost nothing from any 'prog' band! A little biased, don't you think?...

2)Who's next or Live at Leeds, the Who
3)John Barleycorn must die, Traffic
4)Led Zepplin II (btw, my introduction to hard rock in HS) or Led Zepplin IV (acknowledging that Stairway to heaven is overplayed and overrated), Led Zepplin
5) Todd Rundgren's self titled double album, the opening track is Hello, it's me
6)Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, David Bowie
7) Pearl, Janis Joplin
