What instruments do you play?

Post by The Leper Fairy »

Besides of course the kazoo and sherpa squeezing, I play the alto sax. Been playing since 5th grade... that's...er... 5 years if you count this one, I'm a freshman (Our band's so awesome! Festivals next week! Yeah! :D ). I played bass clarinet (now there's a cool sounding hunk of wood) for half a year, but I missed my sax so I went back. I played piano for 5 years, but I quit a couple years ago and now I can only played the dumbed up version of fur elise. I tried trombone one summer but never really got into it, though I think trumpet and violin look really cool...

So what do you guys play?

I'm gonna try a poll, see how that turns out... never done one before...

I have no musical talent whasoever, though I can toot a bit on a recorder. If I did have musical talent, I think I would go for the sax. There's just something so sexy about sax music...

Yeah, there's nothing like the sound of a yowling wildcat to make to friends.

Well I've always wanted 2 play the Diggereedoo (sp!HA! 8O) and the Sax so, of course my mother made me take clarinet and play in the school band 2 3 years. YUK! I, personally, play blues harmonica , percussion and sing.

I played the flute for four years in school, but it's been many years. I have a guitar I want to learn how to play, but mostly I'm a singer.

Hmm, no option for bass guitar, so I'll just have to choose guitar. I also played clarinet as a kid. I'd not long started playing bass when some friends, who are much more talented than I, muscially speaking, sacked their bass player and asked me to be the replacement. After about a year of intensive training and a bit of gigging, we actually managed to get something almost resembling a record deal.
We started recording, and got about half of the album done when weird lesbian love triangles tore the band apart and threw the pieces to the four winds (bear in mind that we were a five-piece). All this kind of scuppered my plans to become a rich and famous non-songwriting musician with little musical ability. Was it asking too much?

A. Because proper tea is theft.

I play classical piano. I wanted to do it professionally....but that probably would have meant teaching 8 year olds, and I think I would have hung myself if that was my career.

I play no instruments, I cannot sing and I have great problems appreciating most music. Nobody in my family has any musical talent either, although my cousin is kind of a drummer in some bands.

But I would love to play harmonica, because that is a cool (and small) instrument.

Seriously, I play a mean tin whistle... not that I could play any song with it, but I can get some good sounds out of it... like the harmonica. Other than that, I have no musical ability. Always wanted to play bass guitar, though, especially a six-stringed one like Les Claypool.

Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Duchess, as children we were piped to sleep by the glorious tones of the Highland Bagpipes - My Dad was Aussie champion 1976. He still plays today, very popular for weddings and funerals. He tried to recruit us as kids to learn to play - I can do the scales but that`s it.
Bagpipes played well, give me goosebumps - but its an acquired taste.
I started to learn piano and again I can play the scales but that`s it. I`d like to learn guitar.

My father played guitar and sung in a band and he could play the keyboard too. I always liked the guitar so I got one for Christmas to try it out. I self taught myself some chords but I got frustrated at not being able to just pick up the thing and start rockin on it. So now I am holding out for guitar lessons to fall into my lap.
