Because JD is only good at pirates and weird chocolate making men.studraver69 wrote:Johnny Depp as Lord Foul?
Why not?

But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.

uh.......first of all
no
second of all
no
third of all
no
and fourth of all
Because i said so.
JD's performance (in any movie i've seen him in) is a little too quirky to be placed a Lord Foul the Despiser--a crucial character in the series...
maybe not his voice...but makeup can do a rather LARGE touch up on his appearance when he finally shows himself to Covenant rather than engulf himself in darkness...

Actually, Johnny Depp as Amok.
Quin, suffering from total amnesia, slowly discovers himself possessed of inexplicable abilities as his world expands...

It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.
I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.
I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.
The only thing I want to see Mr. Depp in is a snuff film.

Depp is so wrong for the part on so many levels. John Goodman would make a better TC.

I don't say this in any gay kind of way, but Depp is too damn pretty to be TC or any kind of central character in a LFB movie. He's the kind of actor who should be saved to play Amok in TEW (as has already been mentioned in this thread) or one of the Elohim -- that is if you use him at all.
I saw "King Kong" today and, after reading this thread, have begun to wonder if Colin Hanks could pull off the TC role -- if he could lose as much weight as his old man did once to play the guy in "Philadelphia."
If anyone in Hollywood is serious about bringing SRD's vision to the screen and truly believes it could be a successful "franchise," there needs to be a young man in LFB -- one that can believably be seen as a young, successful, healthy author, only to have everything yanked out from under him by his leprosy.
I can see casting older actors in the role of TC, but if you actually believe you can get more than a couple of films out of it, you need to find someone close to the age that TC is in LFB -- 30, give or take a year or two, if memory serves.
TC is a great series, but it doesn't have nearly the built-in fanbase that other recent fantasy films have, and I seriously doubt (especially after reading about the travails of bringing LFB to production) that filming two or three movies at once a la "Lord of the Rings" is a viable option. I can see LFB becoming a movie, but TEW and TPTP? Only if the first is a big success -- and there could be a couple of years in between ...
