Ok..this is my first post here...I've been a huge fan of TC for ages and this seems to be a site about legitimate chat and discussion...rather than flaming for the sake of being immature. That said...

I'd go for one of the Haruchai...and I would say Bannor, or course. I am built just right for it...5'7", 23, 195 pounds, heavy shoulders, straight jaw and eyebrows, and muscular legs and body (and very fit as I like hiking, but not so muscular as to look like some steroid junkie, just muscular fit). I'm just going for the role that would suit me, and more to the point a role that I would relish. The Bloodguard are so perfect...and yet so flawed in their idealistic perfection...lovely role to assume as one's own.

That being said, it would be really cool to be Hile Troy, as I think that the contrast of his feelings relative to who he is and what he has grown to love, his nigh on hatred of TC for what he has done to such an innocent girl and his disbelief of Covenant's Unbelief of The Land's existence...it would be an immense task and experience to play most of the roles in this film, especially with the depth of detail the SRD puts into his characters...I would be much gladder if fans were able to participate in the making of this film as much as possible, as it would lend such a huge advantage to the depth of detail and care taken to reproduce every detail of The Land, as it should be.

Just my 2c

BTW Who here finds that recommending TC to friends always ends in one of two things, 1: Your friend loving it to death and wanting to have the books collective hands in an almost literarily orgiastic marriage, or 2: Hating it and not reading past the first 50 pages because they just can't 'get into it'?

Oh, and BTW...on that point, and I am poking around in the dark here...would anyone know where to send your folio if you would wish to get into doing work/acting in this movie? I realise its not what you know, its who...but I would like to give it a try none the less...I also realise that the casters usually go through agencies and look for you, not the other way around...but I still would love the idea of being a caster and finding fans throwing folios your way for you to have a look at. :)

Cheers everyone, and hoping everyone has a happy New Year!

Welcome to the Watch, Leeroy. (the Sun King?)

Whatever we know about the movie is posted in the Movie News topic, which is stickied to the top of the forum. The only names we have attached to the potential movie is Stephen R Donaldson and John Orloff. If you can find a casting agent from that, go for it!

Also ... all of my friends who've read are in the 'I read the first chronicles, and I thought it was whiney/depressing/long-winded, and I had no desire to read the second.'

And don't forget to read the Dissecting the Land and Casting the Augury forums if you're into real discussions about the books.

Cheers Wayfriend, thanks for the heads up!

And I will most definitely check out the other topics...I'm just really interested right now in knowing if there is a film going to be made, and if it is I would want to be one of the people trying to be as faithful to the book as possible, and wanting to get involved in it in any way I can, regardless of whether that might be acting, artwork, conceptual design, storyboarding...absolutely anything.

I always thought that any book made into a movie becomes far less than the work that it tries to illustrate...but after the LOTR film, and I was a diehard supporter of them not making the film (I was an ardent book only fan), I now own the full extended edition and have watched it end to end 3 times. Firstly because it is Tolkien's work and damn well deserves a big tip of the hat, and secondly because of the production values put into EVERYTHING, every little detail that they did! It wasn't made for the sake of making it...it is and will forever be an entirely separate interpretation of the book, which keeps to the book quite closely (and yes, I realise there are many scenes that were changed/deleted, but that has to be done to make it screen adaptable and watchable by an extended audience), and something I'm sure tolkien would be proud to see. Don't get me wrong though...the book will ALWAYS come first, but the film is certainly lovely and was made with all the love and attention it could receive (I'm glad it wasn't done 10 years prior, it would have been NOTHING like what it is!). The movie is always less than the book IMHO.

All that being said, I would hate to think that the TC movie/movie series might be marred by less than fanatical production values, effort, time and money. I'd be one of those people up 40 hours straight doing this kind of stuff, for as long as I could stay or indeed would be allowed to. It'd be one of those things that you just throw yourself at and look back on in 20 years as being one of the most intense, tiring, enjoyable, wearying and valuable things that you have ever done in life. I'd hazard a guess at saying that if I got the chance to do artwork for this movie, or indeed act in it...I would be content for my whole life at what I have done and was able to do with something that gives so much enjoyment and hope to people all over the world...oh, and that I also got to work on an AWESOME movie with an AWESOME story...but that was obvious anyway!

*Whew* So there... :D

Cheers everyone!

Alas, alas, if only Ravers had bodies... :P

I'd try for Lord Shetra and borrow some of Alan's aging makeup. That, or not drink coffee. 8O

Or maybe Elena. I've got the hair for her, if I remember correctly.

And, without my blue contacts, I'd be a perfect Daphine.

Hmm... Daphine...

Yep. I'll be the Elohim chick. 8) *practices leaping on Cail* Hehehe.... What ulterior motive?

I'd read for Meg Roman, the lawyer. And I'd totally, like, steal the movie!

Manethrall Rue would be a bigger part, but I always wanted to smack her for some reason.

Why are you wearing coloured contacts? :?

I'm a little older now and I've been told I can pass for 28ish, so maybe I could get away with Covenant 8) I can certainly be irritable and dour

Well, lets think about that a minute.
The possesion is going to have to be visual somehow for the film.
A ghostly facial overlap of somekind?
There would have to be 3 unique faces for each Raver if it was done that way....

I call Kinslaughterer!!

Which is me, if you think about it. Haha, you got possessed by a girl-Raver!

For my first crime of nature in this scene, I'll dress my host in a girly pink frock! And then on to slaughtering the city...

And no, freaking people out with my eyes detracts from my freaking them out with my manner, actions, and words.

Nah. I really just wanna leap on Cail. Did I say that outloud? :? Memo to self: find new shut-up philter. *practices quirky questioning methods on desk-gnome* No, Tullulah-John, I tell you the answer, then you must figure out the question. *gnome stares blankly* No, "What is Silence?" is not the answer. Try again.

Well. That odd moment done with, I'm going to go drag Esmer by his mystical shorts to the trampoline. La la la...

bannor. just stand there looking tough and the occasional 'wise' one-liner.
It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.

I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.

Ah. The Gimli of the Chronicles.
When they peered into the narrow blackness of the chasm, they saw Amok standing on a ledge in the opposite wall. The ledge began fifteen or twenty feet below and a few feet under the overhang of the mountain. It was not clearly visible. The blank stone and shadowed dimness of the cleft formed a featureless abyss. Amok seemed to be standing on darkness which led to darkness.

"Come!" said Amok cheerfully. "Follow!"

Bannor glanced at the High Lord. "Toss me."

Well, my photo used to be my avatar, so for those who remember, you know what I look like.

I'm not sure who I would play. I've got the angry glare for Covenant. But I'm not gaunt. 6'1, 180, almost 40 yrs old, people think I'm thirty. So...who in the Land fits that?

I'd like to play Triok or maybe Hile Troy. Mhoram would be a fun role, but I imagine you'd want to save that for someone with years and years of practice as an actor.

Pitchwife or Hamako if you're doing the second chronicles.

I could identify well enough with the characters' doing-what-needs-to-be-done-even-if-it-isn't-enough situations. It would be pretty fulfilling to bring that kind of character to the movie watching folk.

On my most recent reread I noticed that I look just like High Lord Elena. Well, at least I have the right hair and eyes. I can't act, but I'm hoping that the "strangely bifurcated sight" thing could mask that. I'd just stare through people. I tend to do that anyways. :)

Definitely one of the giants, I'm gonna go with Cable Seadreamer, not only did I really like the character but remembering lines is a pain in the ass.

I'd try out for TC, and probably end up getting Roger's part.

Or young Mhoram.

Because I'm large, peaked and cracked down the middle.
What's this silver looking ring doing on my finger?
