Haven't seen the movie yet, but loved the books as a child. Still have them on my book case as a matter of fact. I always was trying to get to Narnia after I read them. I like to think that when I found SRD a few years late, I was in the wood between the worlds (from the Magicians Nephew) and that I just managed to jump into an exceptionally great world... The land with TC.
Would I have accepted TC tripping into the land if I hadn't stepped from the wardrobe with Lucy. I dont know. But for me there was a natural progression. My innocent childhood in Narnia to my dark teenage years in the Land.
I hope the film is half way good. There have been other adaptions of these books for TV befor, some were pretty good. Im not sure if there is quite enough to make a blockbuster movie. But Ill be interested in the results.

I took the kids to it on Boxing day.
Isaac (6) has read it-well I erad it to him..he thought it was great.
Adam (4) now wants me to read it to him, he liked it so much--we're now two chapters in.
There was some artistic licencing as when most books are turned into movies, but this certanly sticks to the book more than say, the Lord of the Rings.
AS with the LOTR, the bottle scene is much longer..I beleive it's only a paragraph or two in the book, but I thought it was quite well done.
Even Santa Clause came off well.
-six thumbs up from drew and his kids!!

a bottle in the cellar

Just saw this tonight, mixed feelings.
I liked it but not as much as i remember liking the books.
Peter CANNOT hold a sword, he looked like he was about to drop it half the time.
Heh, Syl i agree about the blue screen shots.
7/10.

But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.

i read prince caspian and TLTWATW and found them ok. but i hated the film. i simply could not have cared less about these stuck up british kids. the characters, when portrayed on screen are just annoying. i want to shake susan she's soooo bloody miserable.
and the montage(you've gotta have a montage) section where they all learnt to use their weapons was pathetic. i dont think the director even believed in it.
finally, perhaps because i've read the books,

Spoiler
but didn't it seem really obvious that aslan would come back to life in the film version? i dont remember watching TLOTR and thinking its really obvious that gandalf would live.
It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.
I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.
